And So It Came to Pass…..

Aubrey and Samuel decided it was a good time to get out of Dodge and go visit his grandmother in Louisiana.  It would give the locals time to get over the shock and they could go before they started their bitching.  They also realized that if they went now, Silver and Conrad could take care of the club while they were gone and Silver could take care of the ranch as well as supervise Tommy and his friends while they took care of Taryn’s ranch.  David resisted but finally gave in realizing he would never be able to convince Taryn that an old woman could be anywhere near as crazy and evil as he swore his grandmother was and she was just going to have to see it for herself.  So, when Tuesday morning rolled around, Samuel, Aubrey, David and Taryn hit the road and headed South for the week with plans to meet Genja and Kendra in New Orleans a few days later, leaving the locals to focus on the upcoming show in D.C. instead of who was married to who or how long they thought it would last.

Back in Darkness Falls, Genja tied up some loose ends and contracted a short term lease for a place in the Quarter after David and Taryn drove into town, checked out the property for him and gave him the okay.  He wanted Taryn’s opinion because he felt her background and upbringing made her the most qualified to determine whether or not the townhouse was suitable for someone of his standing.  He left Constantine and Kat in charge of his properties and informed his business contacts of who’d they’d be dealing with in his absence.  Wednesday, Genja and Kendra met Edward and Eden for lunch where Edward informed them of his and Eden’s plans to follow them south.  They fell to talking about other friends of theirs who would benefit from relocating and were unanimous in deciding that such a relocation was exactly what Aaron and Glen needed.  The four of them met up with the latter two at the Confessional that night.  Glen and Aaron didn’t need convincing.  Almost as soon as the idea was presented to them, they recognized the potential, especially for Aaron, and agreed to go.  Aaron had sold his grandmother’s house when his sister’s body had been discovered and moved into the loft Glen was renting.  The only thing tying them down was Glen’s job and lease, both of which Glen was more than willing to walk away from.  Thursday morning, that’s exactly what he did.  Meanwhile, Eden and Edward had already left and were in New Orleans in a hotel and house hunting by day.

When Friday came, Genja, Kendra, Glen and Aaron were unpacking in Genja and Kendra’s rented French Quarter townhouse and Glen hit the streets looking for work while Aaron scoured the classifieds for a place of their own.  David and Taryn were on their way back to Solitude so David could make the D.C. booking while Samuel and Aubrey stayed behind to spend more time with their grandmother.

Sunday afternoon, Genja, Kendra, Aaron and Glen met up with Aubrey and Samuel in a local bar for lunch where they were discussing the potential jobs Glen had to choose from when a special report flashed on the bar’s TV screen reporting the body of a dead man who’d been found in an alley with his heart ripped out.  Meanwhile in D.C., Misanthropy were packing up to go back home after their show the night before.

Your Sins Into Me – Eden Goes Home

I… I came here by day, but I left here in darkness
And found you, found you on the way
And now, it is silver and silent, it is silver and cold
You, in somber resplendence, I hold

Peyton spent the next few weeks working with Eden.  They went to jewelry shows and gem shows.  They visited precious metal distributers and even other stores.  Peyton showed Eden how to run the business and what to do if she wasn’t around when an order came in.  Peyton taught the younger girl the finer arts of repair and restoration, and how to make simple pieces.  Eden was a natural but then there wasn’t much she didn’t do well if she set her mind to it.  Peyton set her up with a station of her own, gave her free reign of the safe, supplies, and told her to make eight pieces by the next show.  After that, Eden was in the store most of the time, stopping only to eat and sleep.  She worked from sketches and was meticulous in her work.  When she was finished, she showed them to Peyton and Mikhail.  Peyton smiled proudly and told Eden her pieces were going in the next show.  Peyton knew Eden’s stuff would appeal to the younger and older alike.

They left the next morning early.  Peyton discovered she actually didn’t mind having Eden around.  She’d been a big help and was even tolerable.  She wondered how much of that was because Jenna had kept Lucien very busy since their return from Solitude.  Eden had finally heard about them and while there’d been an initial outburst, there’d been nothing since.  In fact Eden’s reaction had been so mild that it actually rather terrified Peyton.

Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I’ll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me) Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one

It was on the way back from this last show that Peyton finally said something to Eden.  They were driving back and Peyton looked over at Eden and just blurted it out, “You know he’s like…*old* right?”  Eden shook her head, “Not really.”  Peyton smiled, “Yeah.  Really.  You’re 19.  He’s 34.  You’re barely legal for him *now*.”  Eden looked out the window, quietly, “It’s a moot point Peyton.  He’s with Jenna and he’s happy.”  Tears welled up in Eden’s eyes, making them shimmer like twin reflecting pools.  “Eden, someone told me something once, ‘if a guy makes you cry more then he makes you laugh..it’s time to move on.’  It seems to me that with most of the guys you’ve been with you’ve cried more than laughed.  You’re supposed to be sowing wild oats, partying, and having fun.  He’s supposed to be settling down, having kids”  Eden lit a cigarette and rolled the window down, “Don’t have any wild oats left, I sowed them all.”  Peyton nodded, she understood.  At 19, Eden had been through more than any child her age should.  “Eden, try it for a while.  Hang with Morose and Hanna, or Gabe and Reese, Ciara.  Give them a chance.  You like Morose.  I saw the way you smiled when he came in the other night.”  Eden shook her head, “I do like Morose and we’re friends.  I’m moving out of Lucien’s Folly.”  Peyton blinked, “Where are you going to go.”  Eden shrugged noncommittally, “I’m not sure yet.  A motel for now.  The Estate sold, and I never wanted to go back there anyway.”  Eden looked back out the window again.  She didn’t know and she was no closer to figuring it out when Peyton dropped her outside the little house.  Eden smiled at that.. it wasn’t really so little and living alone in it made it feel even bigger.  Peyton smiled, “Eden?”  “Yeah.”  “You did well today; I’ll have your check tomorrow.”  Eden nodded and walked away from the car.

Light, like the flutter of wings, feel your hollow voice rushing into me
As you’re longing to sing
So I… I will paint you in silver, I will wrap you in cold
I will lift up your voice as I sink

Peyton watched to make sure she got in okay and backed out of the driveway.  She headed down founders row, and a gloom settled over her.  The street looked desolate.  There were six houses on the street.  The Black Estate sat in the middle like the crown jewel.  Next to it on one side was the behemoth that was Beckham manor, with its sad dark almost sinister windows.  The “for sale” sign hung crookedly with the blazing red slash across it that read “Sold”.  Townsend Home, Holloway house and Shepherd’s Glen sat spaced across from the largest houses.  The little house, Lucian’s Folly, was at the end of the block.

Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one, now
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I’ll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me) Your sins into me

Eden climbed the steps onto the porch.  She looked over her shoulder at The Estate and the Manor and shook her head.  The Manor looked so sad and desolate but gave Eden the chills every time she thought about it.  The Estate, with its lights blazing and warmth, welcomed her.  Except it didn’t anymore, and she knew that.  She walked inside and closed the door.  As soon as she stepped into the kitchen, she knew she didn’t belong there either and didn’t want to be here.  She went upstairs to her room and the feeling grew.  As she got in the shower, it continued to surge, taking on a life of its own.  The last year came crashing down on her, as she slid down the wall.  The shower pelted her with stinging water as she filtered through the chaos of her mind.  She was tired.  Eighteen and Exhausted.  It sounded like one of those after school specials she’d had to watch instead of the tired old drug prevention video.  In the last year she’d been married, and yes, if the truth be told she did still miss Genja.  But he had Kendra, Lucien had Jenna, Damien had Shay, Mikhail had Peyton, and Edward had everyone.  Of everyone.. Edward hurt the most.  Her eyes burned with unshed tears.  Of all the ones she’d loved.. Edward was the only one that hadn’t tried to change her, make her into his idea of what she should be.  She left the shower and dressed in all black leather, from her boots to her bra.  She let her hair hang loose and air dry while she gathered some of her things.

Cold in life’s throes, I’ll fall asleep for you
Cold in life’s throes, I only ask you turn away
Cold in life’s throes, I’ll fall asleep for you
Cold in life’s throes, I only ask you turn
As they seep… into me, oh, my beautiful one, now

There was only one place she wanted to be right now.  She headed through the kitchen grabbing her keys off the hook.  Her small car sat in the middle of the two-car garage.  The top came down with a satisfying thump, and after tossing her back on the passenger seat, she opened the garage door and peeled out, headed toward the beach and her redemption, her salvation.  Edward.  She got to his house and used the spare key to enter.  She hadn’t been here in months.  She smiled as she plugged in the code for the security system.  Predictable.  He’d used her birthday.  Eden shook her head.  Habit.  Eden got her bearings, she’d only been here a few times but she remembered the lay out as if she’d lived there all her life.  She could almost sense Edward’s presence in the house.  She made her way to his bedroom stopping outside the door to take a deep breath.  Eden pushed open the door saying a silent prayer to any god that heard her asking that he be alone.  Apparently, there was one that still listened to her.  Eden crossed to the bed silently, taking in the beauty that was her sleeping brother.

Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer
And I’ll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me)
Your sins into me… oh

The only light in the room streamed through the open window.  The full moon cast an eerie glow into the room.  Her eyes traveled over him, to his face.  He was breathtakingly beautiful, so much so that she gasped softly.  His face relaxed in sleep was the salvation the angels sang about.  His skin was smooth as silk and as flawless as a perfect diamond.  Her eyes drifted over a long lean well cut torso to a long, slender fingered hand that splayed over a perfectly cut well-muscled abdomen.  Her gaze continued its journey and was abruptly cut off by the sheet that slashed across his pelvis.  Eden exhaled a soft sigh.

Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one, now
Your sins into me
As a rapturous voice escapes, I will tremble a prayer

She placed her bag by the door.  Slipping out of her clothes, which she folded neatly and dropped on top of the bag.  She padded over to the bed and drawing on years of experience climbed onto the bed with him, careful not to wake him she placed a knee on either side of his hips.  Her leather t-back and the sheet the only barriers between their most intimate places.  Her hips moved gently against him as she felt his arousal grow a whisper of a smile crossed her lips.  She shifted slightly and moved the thong and the sheet aside, positioning him for entry.  She brushed feather soft kisses over his face and neck, her tongue flicking at the pulse in his throat.  She wanted him awake when she settled around him.  Her breath was warm on his ear as she tongue traced the outer shell, very quietly as she pushed back onto him she whispered, “Edward.”

And I’ll beg for forgiveness
(Your sins into me) Your sins into…
(Your sins into me) Your sins into me
Oh, my beautiful one
