You’ve Got Your Demons – Fight Sibling With Sibling

Girls:
<Taryn looks at Loch> Yeah… *that* went well.
Boys:
<Loch looks at Taryn> What’d you expect? A guy like that’s not gonna respond to nice words and sentiments.
Girls:
<Taryn shrugs> So what do I do? Just not say anything?
Boys:
<Loch smiles> You say.. “hey, asshole. You were right.” And leave it at that.
Boys:
<Loch shrugs> Replacing “you were right” with whatever the situation calls for.
Girls:
<Taryn nods and smiles> When he comes home.. I’ll try that.
Boys:
<Loch nods> He’s the kind of guy that only responds to bein’ kicked, babe. Because that’s what he knows. He got kicked around for a while, then one day started kickin’ back. Only harder and meaner. He’s probably more suspicious of nice people like you than people like.. well… his mother.

Girls:
<Taryn shakes her head> Christ. How does someone like him and someone like David come out of the same person.
Boys:
<Loch looks at her> You think David’s all that far away from him? Think about it. David responds to you because he’s had Jamie lookin’ out for him. What he’s got are a bunch of memories of who he thought his mom was and probably some idealized idea of what it would’ve been like if she hadn’t left. Samuel’s got the reality. But David’s not exactly easy to get close to, either.
Boys:
<Loch looks down the road> And then there’s the environment.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Loch> This place is… hell on earth. I don’t get why someone would *want* to bring a kid into it.

Boys:
<Loch nods> And David had to have some kind of clue it was like this or Tommy would probably be here with us.
Boys:
<Loch looks at Taryn> Let me ask you somethin’.  If you and Saige went ten years without seein’ each other and she showed up in the middle of your town one day with a bunch of people you didn’t know.. do you think you’d recognize her so quickly?
Girls:
<Taryn nods> True. <Taryn shakes her head> Probably not. <looks at Loch> So he’s been keepin’ tabs on David?
Boys:
<Loch shrugs> Or he’s got a hell of a memory.
Girls:
<Taryn blinks> Which do you think it is?
Boys:
<Loch shakes his head> I don’t know.  But if he’s just got a hell of a memory…he’s a lot smarter than we think.  Or maybe he’s just as locked on the whole thing as David is.  <looks at her> I know one thing.. he wasn’t about to let us walk into that bar.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> I got that too. And that tells me there’s at least *something* between them.
Boys:
<Loch nods> And for someone who’s so put out about havin’ his day interrupted with unwanted and uninvited guests, he’s takin’ it awfully well.
Boys:
<Loch looks at her> They’re brothers. There can’t *not* be somethin’ between them.

Girls:
<Taryn nods> He is… Yeah.. but he could have let us walk in to that bar. He didn’t and was hell bent that we weren’t going to. So maybe he still feels protective of David?
Boys:
<Loch shrugs> Maybe. He has a lot better idea of what’s goin’ on around here than David does. I wouldn’t let Sang walk into this.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> I’m not so sure David wanted me here. <shrugs>
Boys:
<Loch smiles> He didn’t. But for completely different reasons.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles> He didn’t want me to see this.
Boys:
<Loch nods> Exactly.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Loch> I don’t see *him* differently because of this.
Boys:
<Loch looks at her> Yeah, but.. think about this. You guys *do* get married… Samuel’s gonna be your brother in law and the uncle of your children.
Boys:
<Loch grins suddenly> Can you see him and Saige at the table together during the holidays?
Girls:
<Taryn blinks> Shit. They’d kill each other. <blinks again> Or not…<looks at Loch> Maybe *she* should have come up here with him.
Boys:
<Loch smiles> Or not? <laughs> You think she’d fuck him?
Girls:
<Taryn nods> Oh.. totally. She digs the bad boys. And he is a bad boy. <shrugs> At least until she and Van are official. She’d fuck him stupid.
Boys:
<Loch laughs again> *Fuck*. We totally should’ve brought her.
Boys:
<David comes down the stairs, heads into the kitchen, grabs a couple of beers, pops the tops, carries one out to Taryn and hand it to her>
Girls:
<Taryn smiles at Loch, takes the beer from David, looks up at him> She okay?
Boys:
<David shrugs> I guess. She’s sleepin’ it off. <takes a sip of his beer, shakes his head, looks at Taryn> I think if she’d woken up and touched me, I woulda completely lost my shit.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at him> Why? <takes a drink of her beer>
Boys:
<David arches a brow> Did you *see* her?
Girls:
<Taryn nods> I did. She looked..<frowns trying to find a word other than zombified>
Boys:
<Loch looks at David> It’s probably a good thing you came when you did. She doesn’t look like she’s got a whole lot of time left. Generally speakin’, I mean.
Boys:
<David nods to Loch> I’m thinkin’ if she never woke up again, it might not be the worst thing.
Girls:
<Taryn looks over at Loch gratefully>
Boys:
<Loch nods slightly to Taryn> I’m gonna go grab a beer.
Boys:
<David nods to Loch, Loch heads inside and grabs a beer>
Girls:
<Taryn steps close to David> Are you all right?
Boys:
<David looks around, *really* taking the place in for the first time> Yanno… this is the kind of place I could see myself in. Just… yanno… minus the town full of outlaw bikers. <looks at her> He was always quicker than me. He *does* everything slower.. moves, talks… he’s always comin’ across like he’s got nothin’ but time to get to what he needs to get to. But he’s always been able to think faster. Never has to walk away from shit to figure it out and come back to it later. <nods> But yeah.. I’m thinkin’ I might not need so much time figurin’ this one out.

Girls:
<Taryn nods> How did he recognize you after 10 years David?
Boys:
<David shrugs> Same way I recognized him. Some faces you just don’t forget. And I’m sure my old man’s bike didn’t hurt.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at him> Bill said you were close once. Do you think you could get that back?
Boys:
<David takes a sip of his beer> Hell, he could probably tell you what we were wearin’ the last time we saw each other. <shakes his head> Why in the hell would I want to?
Girls:
<Taryn shrugs> Like it or not.. he’s still family.
Boys:
<David looks at her> Not by choice, baby girl. And invitin’ him in, is invitin’ in all of this. Because it’s part of who he is.

Girls:
<Taryn looks around> All right.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles> Loch and I were sayin’ we should have brought Saige.
Boys:
<David watches her for a second, quietly> Tary.. Samuel will smile while he’s puttin’ a bullet in your head. <shakes his head> I don’t even wanna think about that.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> All right.. I’ll be careful. Think about Saige and Samuel?
Boys:
<David nods> Saige and this whole place.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at him> You know if she ever did come here.. we’d probably be hard pressed to get her out.
Boys:
<David looks at her> That’s a scary thought.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> It is.. I can see her thriving in a place like this though..can’t you?
Boys:
<David arches a brow> “Thriving”? You think she could? You think anyone could?
Boys:
<David shakes his head> You almost make me wish she was here just to see what she did with it.
Girls:
<Taryn shakes her head> okay.. thriving is too positive a word..but surviving maybe?
Boys:
<David shakes his head> I don’t know. I don’t know if I could. And I *know* you couldn’t.
Girls:
<Taryn shakes her head> I don’t think I have that kind of…strength.. or meanness.
Boys:
<David nods> So.. it’s a 5 hour drive. Think we’re gonna be here another five hours?
Girls:
<Taryn nods> Probably…if she’s gotta sleep it off.
Girls:
<Taryn blinks> Where’s the nearest airport?
Boys:
<David nods> If you wanna see Saige in a place like this bad enough, send her the address, tell her to take the route around town to get to the house and leave everyone else at home. Samuel probably won’t even be back from the store for an hour or so.
Boys:
<David looks at her> Mercer County airport in Bluefield.
Boys:
<David smiles> It’s only about 30 minutes away.
Boys:
<David thinks> The plane ride’s about two hours. Maybe an hour and a half.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at David, smiles> So it might be quicker for her to charter a plane.. on the other hand…I’d love to see what Samuel does when *Saige* climbs off her bike.
Boys:
<David smiles, takes another sip of his beer, nods> Up to you, baby girl.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles and sends Saige the text telling her she should get here as fast as safely possible>
Boys:
<David thinks about it> It’s about dinner time, now. She rides, she won’t be here til about 11.
Boys:
<David shakes his head> Why do I have a feelin’ we’re gonna be stayin’ over?
Girls:
<Taryn nods> Because it’s lookin’ like we are.
Boys:
<David sighs> Fuck.
Girls:
<Taryn quietly> I don’t see her waking up before morning. We might want to send Loch and Seth home… on the other side of that.. we don’t have to worry about Sang showin’ up.
Boys:
<David nods> We probably should. <takes a breath> All right. Let’s do it.
Boys:
<David takes her hand and heads inside the house to the kitchen where Loch and Seth are hanging out at the table drinking a beer>
Girls:
<Taryn squeezes his hand>
Boys:
<Loch looks over when David and Taryn walk in>
Girls:
<Taryn gets a text from Saige saying she’s coming and will be there as soon as she can >

Boys:
<David squeezes her’s back, looks at Loch and Seth> Look.. it’s lookin’ like we’re gonna be here all night. It’s also lookin’ like we’re not gonna need the extra backup. So, why don’t you and Seth go one home so your women don’t lose their shit and show up *here*. Because you know Sang, at least, will.
Boys:
<Seth looks at David> You sure about this?
Boys:
<David nods> Yeah. There’s no point to all of us sittin’ here all night when we don’t have to. And I’m sure Samuel’s got ways of dealin’ with trespassers. I’m thinkin’ as long as we stay away from town, we’ll be all right.
Boys:
<Loch nods> Hold that thought. <pulls out his phone and calls Sang>
Girls:
<Sangria pulls out her phone and answers> Hey baby.
Boys:
<Loch smiles> Hey. David’s tryin’ to send me and Seth home. <gives her the rundown> What do you think?
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn, whispers> I can’t believe he’s gotta check in with the wife.
Girls:
<Sangria shakes her head> Stay. You don’t know *who’s* gonna show up with the sun goes down.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> Seriously.
Boys:
<Loch smiles> Funny. I was thinkin’ the exact same thing. <looks at David> Yeah, no. We’re stayin’. <to Sang> Deal with Lia?
Girls:
<Sangria nods> I’ve got her and Tommy. We’re gonna do dinner and then watch movies.
Girls:
<Sang smiles> And Saige just left on her bike like a bat outta hell.
Boys:
<Loch nods> So what’s Saige’s deal?
Girls:
<Sang shrugs> She wasn’t here. I heard her bike.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Loch> Saige is on her way here.
Boys:
<Loch looks at Taryn, arches a brow> Are you *high*? <to Sang> Taryn just said Saige is on her way here.
Girls:
<Sangria blinks> Holy shit. *Why*?
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn>
Boys:
<Loch looks at Taryn> Holy shit, why?
Boys:
<David looks at Loch> Because Taryn’s her sister and she decided she’s not leavin’ her up here with Samuel and his kind.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> Yes.
Boys:
<Loch shakes his head, repeats that to Sang>
Girls:
<Sang shakes her head> Bull shit. If that were true Saige would have gone *with* you all.
Boys:
<Loch puts her on speaker, repeats that back>
Boys:
<David looks at the phone> Except Saige didn’t have as much of a clue until Tary talked to her and gave her the update. She didn’t like what she heard.
Girls:
<Sangria sighs> Van’s gonna *hate* this.
Boys:
<David can’t help himself> Van’s gonna hate it more if she fucks Samuel into submission.
Boys:
<Loch arches a brow, looks at Taryn> Sneaky. That’s the plan, isn’t it? Get her up here to deal with big brother and maybe keep him distracted?
Girls:
<Sangria blinks> David! <frowns> Who’s Sam….Wait.. big brother?
Boys:
<Loch, to Sang> Samuel’s David’s brother. The one I was tellin’ you about.
Girls:
<Sangria shakes her head> Oh.. Van is gonna hate you guys.
Boys:
<David shakes his head> Van can’t say shit, Sang. They’re not exclusive and he’d say himself that Saige makes her own choices. We’re not bringin’ her up here to keep him distracted. The truth is, Taryn thinks Saige would get off on this place. Can probably deal with what’s goin’ on better than most.
Boys:
<Loch laughs> And if we’re really lucky, she’ll decide she doesn’t wanna go home.
Boys:
<Seth smiles, shakes his head> That’s just wrong, man.
Girls:
<Sangria shakes her head> You are *not* leaving her there… she decides that knock her ass unconscious and drag her home. <sighs> I hate you guys.
Boys:
<Loch smiles> I’m kidding. I wouldn’t even leave *Saige* here.
Boys:
<Loch laughs again> Oh.. and get this.. Taryn started shit with Samuel.
Boys:
<David arches a brow, looks at Taryn>
Girls:
<Sangria shakes her head> *Taryn*? Shit.. it must be bad.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at David, shrugs>
Boys:
<David smiles, shakes his head> He’s an asshole. It’s hard for *anyone* not to start shit with him. Just be glad *you* don’t have to deal with him. You think I’m bad….

Girls:
<Taryn smiles>
Girls:
<Sangria> Look, you all be careful. I’ll make sure Lia and Tommy know what’s goin’ on. And I’ll try to keep Van at bay should he ask.
Boys:
<Loch smiles> Take David. <thinks> Well.. maybe not. But anyway.. take David, strip away the capacity for emotion or fear.. skew the shit out of his morals and set him in a house full of shotguns and you’ve got Samuel.

Girls:
<Sangria, moves around the barn> You’re not doing fuck all for my sense of security that you guys are there.<smiles> Should I send the Triplets up too?
Boys:
<Loch looks at David, to Sang> No. The more I see, the more I feel like I might actually find a place in my heart to sympathize with the fucker. And you could probably put the Shaughnessy boys damn near anywhere, but this isn’t just anywhere. Hell, we pulled up to the bar when we got here and no sooner did we park than a half naked woman came runnin’ out the bar screamin’.
Girls:
<Sangria sighs> Fuck. All right. And You’re having *Saige* come up. *Saige*? <shakes her head>
Boys:
<Loch shrugs> Looks like it. I’ll let you know when she gets here.
Boys:
<Loch shakes his head> Four o’clock in the afternoon, Sang, and everyone’s already drunk as fuck and just goin’ off.
Boys:
<Loch sighs> And David’s morning shot used to concern me, yanno?
Girls:
<Sangria nods> Okay… Keep me posted. You know I hate that you all are 5 hours away. I know.
Boys:
<Loch nods> I know,baby. I’llcall you again in a bit. Love you.
Girls:
<Sangria nods> Love you too.
Boys:
<Loch hangs up, looks at David and Taryn> Places like this exist so people like us can better appreciate what we have at home.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Loch> Yeah.. Sang sounded genuinely worried.
Boys:
<Loch nods> And she will be til I walk in the door. But she’s not gonna be selfish about this because she figures I’m more needed here right now.
Boys:
<David nods> All right. So.. let’s figure out somethin’ to do for the next couple of hours. Or at least til Samuel gets back with some actual food.
Girls:
<Taryn nods, looks at David> What did you find in the basement?
Boys:
<Loch looks at David> I’m thinkin’ a nap might be a good idea. Sleep now because we might not have a chance later.
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn> An armory.
Girls:
<Taryn blinks> Fuck.
Boys:
<David nods> I’m thinkin’ Hank was a little obsessed with his right to bear arms.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Loch> Maybe we should make sure all the weapons are…hidden?
Boys:
<Loch looks at Taryn> Where exactly are we gonna hide an *armory*?
Girls:
<Taryn shrugs> At least it’s outta reach for the most part.
Boys:
<Loch nods> For Samuel, who walks around with a .38 in his waistband or for us?
Girls:
<Taryn nods> All right.. <shrugs>
Boys:
<Loch looks at David> So.. naps?
Boys:
<David nods> We can try, anyway.
Boys:
<Loch sighs> Yeah.. I’m not holdin’ out much hope either.
Girls:
<Taryn quietly> Me either.
Boys:
<Loch nods, walks over to the fridge, grabs another beer> I gotta say, though.. I do admire their idea of what’s edible. <heads into the living room>
Girls:
<Taryn looks at David> Where’re we crashing?
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn> Couch? We’ll be able to hear the front door.
Girls:
<Taryn nods and smiles, softly> Yes. Did you know Seth and Jamie are armed?
Boys:
<David smiles> I remember Van sayin’ somethin’ about how Seth wouldn’t have to carry his gun around Solitude, so I just kinda assumed. Jamie.. I’m not surprised. Bill probably is, too.
Girls:
<Taryn softly> Is it wrong that it makes me feel safer that they have weapons?
Boys:
<David takes her hand, pulls her closer, kisses her forehead> I don’t think so.
Girls:
<Taryn wraps her arms around him tightly> Are you armed?
Boys:
<David wraps his arms around her, smiles> Yeah. I brought you.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles> Yes you did. <hugs him>
Boys:
<David hugs her back>
Girls:
<Taryn softly> Let’s go catch that nap.
Boys:
<David nods, lets her go, takes her hand and heads into the living room>
Girls:
<Taryn goes with him>
