You’ve Got Desires – The Prodigal Brother Comes Home

Boys:
<after dropping off Sarah at the nearby hospital, the group rolls into the ranch at about 6 in the morning>
Girls:
<Saige parks her bike and climbs off it>

Boys:
<the boys park and get off their bikes and out of the trucks>
Boys:
(add Samuel throwing his jacket into the fire to torching the house)
Boys:
<David and Samuel walk over to the fence surrounding the front pasture, lighting cigarettes and following Harley who’s taken off under the fence and into the field>
Girls:
<Taryn climbs slowly off the back of the bike watching David and Samuel>
Boys:
<David and Samuel stop at the fence and lean on it, each with one foot on the lower rail and look out over the pasture, watching Harley>
Girls:
<Jamie heads to the house to check on Tommy>
Boys:
<Bill gets off the bike and watches the boys>
Boys:
<Loch walks over to Seth> Next time I agree to take a five hour drive to outlaw biker territory.. punch me.
Boys:
<Seth smiles> Are you kidding? Between your woman and mine.. after hearing what we were in the middle of.. I won’t have to. We’ll both be grounded for life.
Boys:
<Loch smiles> No shit. And believe me when I tell you, sayin’ “a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do” will *not* help our situation at all.
Girls:
<Sangria and Lia come running out of the houses into their guys arms, Lia looking tired and like she just woke up>
Girls:
<Sangria looking like she hasn’t slept>
Boys:
<Seth wraps his arms around Lia, hugs her> Guess Sang told you what we were up to.
Boys:
<Loch hugs Sang>
Girls:
<Lia shakes her head> She only told me you were bringing David’s brother home and that you all were okay.
Boys:
<Seth nods> All right. I’ll fill you in later.
Girls:
<Taryn heads into the barn to start the feeding and watering process>

Boys:
<Loch nods toward Samuel and David, to Sang> And *that* would be David’s morally skewed older asshole brother.
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn, smiles> We got it.
Boys:
<David and Samuel get rid of their cigarettes and head for the barn, Samuel smiles at Taryn, teasingly> Why don’t you go in the house and make some breakfast, darlin’.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles> It’s okay.. I’ve got to take care of … <looks at Samuel, bristles> What the …<stops sees his teasing smile>Oh… I’m gonna make you one of my very special breakfasts.
Boys:
<Samuel nods> Which is why I’m gonna find the nearest taco joint just as soon as the sun’s high enough.
Girls:
<Taryn gives him a hurt look> What you don’t think my breakfast is good enough. <pokes her bottom lip out>
Boys:
<Loch looks over, loud enough so they can hear him> North end of Main Street.
Boys:
<Samuel smiles that smile> There isn’t a pout powerful enough, cute enough, or sweet enough to get under my skin. I think your food’s gonna be just fine. I’m just not sure I trust you not to poison me yet.

Girls:
<Taryn smiles> If I were gonna poison you…<shrugs> I’d’ve done it at dinner last night, darlin’.
Boys:
<David shakes his head> Taryn’s not gonna go poison the brother I just got back.
Boys:
<Samuel arches a brow, still smiling> Oh, but you’re just gettin’ to know me. Give it time. You’ll probably come to regret that decision.
Girls:
<Sangria looks at Loch smiles and bounces over to Samuel> Hi…I’m Sangria.
Girls:
<Taryn arches a brow back at him, looks at Sangria then at David>
Boys:
<Samuel looks over at Sangria, takes a step back when she bounces over> Samuel.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at David like “what the fuck is this?”>
Girls:
<Sangria smiles> Nice to meet ‘cha.
Boys:
<David smiles>
Boys:
<Samuel looks back at Sang, smiles> Same here, darlin’.
Girls:
<Taryn shakes her head> Our resident cheer leader. Complete with perky and <looks at Sangria> everything.
Girls:
<Sangria shoots Taryn a glare when she calls her a cheerleader.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Taryn> You didn’t warn me on purpose, I’m thinkin’.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Samuel, shrugs> I figured you could handle her.
Boys:
<Loch walks over, looks at Sang> Samuel’s a little better with dogs than people.
Boys:
<David nods> And horses.
Girls:
<Sangria smiles brightly> Like most of you guys. <grins playfully>
Boys:
<Samuel smiles, looks back at Sang, looks her over> Huh.
Boys:
<Loch blinks slowly> Sang.. put the sun back in the sky. It’s too early for this shit.
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn, smiles> Like he handled Saige?
Girls:
<Sangria looks at Loch, blinks, shrugs> Okay. <looks back at Samuel>
Girls:
<Sangria smiles> It’s a pleasure to meet ‘cha.
Boys:
<Samuel nods> you already said that, darlin’. You might wanna dial back the dosage.
Girls:
<Sangria nods> I know I said it already. <looks at Loch, smiles> punchy.. no sleep.
Boys:
<Loch smiles> It’s contagious.
Boys:
<Sameuel nods walks over to David>
Girls:
<Taryn looks at David> He basically ignored Saige.
Boys:
<Loch lights a cigarette, takes a drag> So.. we’re not tellin’ anyone else he’s here and we’re just gonna show up with him at Ren’s party tonight.
Girls:
<Sangria nods> Cool.
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn, shrugs> He said hey to her. It’s better than almost shooting her.
Girls:
<Taryn blinks> oh my god.. I forgot about that. Yes it is. Progress.
Boys:
<David smiles, nods> Just let him get his bearings, Tar.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles> Hey.. I’m not the one that went all perky on the guy. <nods> But Yeah.. I get what you’re sayin.
Boys:
<David smiles> At least she didn’t jump in his arms.
Boys:
<Bill goes into the house to find Jamie>
Girls:
<Taryn smiles> I think Loch might have taken exception to that.
Girls:
<Sangria looks at Loch> So food?
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn curiously> What do you mean?
Boys:
<Loch looks at Sang> Yes, please. And coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles> To Sang jumping into Samuel’s arms.
Boys:
<Samuel heads into the barn so David can talk to Taryn>
Boys:
<David smiles> Probably. But only because no one really knows him.
Boys:
<David shrugs> And Samuel might be more inclined to take it as an invitation than, say… Ethan or Brennan.
Girls:
<Sangria smiles> Stay. I made a run. I realized that Taryn only had Rabbit food so When the Mexican place opened.. I was there.
Boys:
<Loch smiles> This is why I keep you around.
Girls:
<Sangria nods> I know.. <runs into the house and comes back out with several bags and a box of coffee, along with cups>
Boys:
<Loch watches her, arches a brow> Baby? Are we eatin’ on the ground now?
Girls:
<Sangria walks over to the nearest truck pops open the tail gate and sits everything down>
Boys:
<Loch walks over, sits on the tailgate, starts rummaging through the bags>
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn, takes her hand and pulls her closer, lowers his voice> So… you’re sure you’re good with this?
Girls:
<Taryn smiles> Baby.. I’m fine with this. Hell he doesn’t even need to be relegated to the cabin he can stay in the house as far as I’m concerned.
Boys:
<David smiles> Saige jumped on that one pretty quick, didn’t she?
Girls:
<Taryn nods> She did… but that’s her sanctuary. And she’s got that deadline.
Boys:
<David nods> Which is what was kinda.. interesting.. about it.
Girls:
<Taryn nods smiles> Maybe she really does want to hit that before Van stakes his claim.
Boys:
<David shakes his head> Jamie’s right, though. He’s always been a bit of a loner. He might be more comfortable over the barn. <smiles again> That’s the message *I* got.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> Okay.. so he can have that apartment. <smiles> And if he’s feelin’ it.. he can work here.
Boys:
<David nods> I’ll talk to him about it.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles> Okay.
Boys:
<David looks at her> Yanno.. if I *did* get spooked and try and run off again.. he’d probably hunt me down and drag me back *for* you.

Girls:
<Taryn looks at him> You think?
Boys:
<David nods> I’m thinkin’.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles> See I didn’t think he liked me very much.
Boys:
<David smiles> That’s because you don’t know him yet.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> I know.. <smiles, very softly> Do you think he was tellin’ the truth about everything?
Boys:
<David looks at her> Everything kinda covers a lot of territory.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> The important shit.
Girls:
At the end.
Boys:
<David thinks about it for a second, nods> Yeah. I think the he was tellin’ the truth about the important shit.
Boys:
<David looks at her> You worried about it?
Girls:
<Taryn shakes her head> No.. but I also know that I trust too easily and I’m gullible.
Boys:
<David shakes his head> You don’t seem to be havin’ that problem with this.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at him, quietly> I’m just worried about you.
Boys:
<David nods> I know.
Boys:
<David looks at her> You think maybe I’m trustin’ him too much too soon?
Girls:
<Taryn shakes her head> I don’t.  I didn’t ask because I didn’t believe him. I asked because you know him better. <shrugs> There was really no reason to lie about it and hell he torched the place and his jacket. <smiles> Maybe it’s a fresh start for all of you.
Boys:
<David shakes his head> But I haven’t seen him in ten years. So.. I don’t really know him as much as I used to. <nods> Could be.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> But he left everything he knew behind for this…you.
Boys:
<David looks at her> Yeah, he did. But I’m expectin’ people to talk. Say shit like maybe he *didn’t*do it for me. Maybe he’s just runnin’ from somethin’.
Girls:
<Taryn shakes her head> Uh uh.. they start that we shut them down. We’re the only ones that know what really happened up there. As far as anyone else needs to know.. he moved here to be closer to you and y’alls mom. <smiles> I’m thinkin’ he trusted us enough to give us the truth maybe we should trust him.
Boys:
<David nods> I’m thinkin’ you’re right. But it’s kinda hard for me to get there when Jamie doesn’t seem like *she* trusts him.
Girls:
<Taryn shakes her head> I don’t think it’s Samuel she wasn’t trusting, so much as the town and the circumstances.
Boys:
<David looks at her> I’d like to think that, too, but you heard what he said. About how she was his best friend when no one was around and changed when we were? I’m thinkin’ maybe I should talk to her. See what she *really* thinks. Could be she just doesn’t know how to handle him.
Boys:
<David looks toward the field when the horses com out of the barn, watches Samuel walk out after them>
Girls:
<Taryn nods> It could be. <smiles> So go talk to her. If you want to send Tommy out.. I’ll introduce him to his bigger brother.
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn> I don’t think he’s gonna need it.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at him> You don’t?
Boys:
<David shakes his head> Don’t see why he should. He knew him when he was five.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> He was five. He might need a buffer now.. like he did with me.
Boys:
<David kisses her> We’ll see what we see. I’m gonna go talk to Jamie.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles and kisses him back> All right.. I’ll go help Samuel.
Boys:
<David looks at her> All right. And, just so you know, you don’t have to worry about him with the horses. He worked the rodeo circuit for a while. Probably the longest he ever did any one thing.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at him> I’m not worried. <smiles> I want to see what he does with them. <grins> Guess we’re gettin’ another horse.
Boys:
<David smiles. nods> I’m thinkin’. <kisses her again and heads into the house to find Jamie>
