Words are Spaces Between Us – Ava Finds Her Ring, Digging Under Samuel’s Hood

Boys:
<Aiden watches them leave, looks at Ava> Tension, much?
Girls:
<Ava nods> Seriously.
Girls:
<Ava shrugs> Not that I blame him.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at her curiously> Why’s that?
Girls:
<Ava shrugs> She was being bitchy.
Boys:
<Aiden shakes his head> I don’t think that’s it, though. You shoulda seen him when I got here. He’s a lot less tense now than he was.
Girls:
<Ava smiles> Why do you think that is?
Boys:
<Aiden looks at her> Because we’re here. And he’s been gone too long.
Girls:
<Ava nods> I think you’re right.
Boys:
<Aiden nods, takes a sip of his drink>
Girls:
<Ava picks off Aiden’s plate>
Girls:
<Taryn whispers to David> I’m the bad cop.
Boys:
<David smiles, whispers back> I figured it was somethin’ like that.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles, softly> Though I’m not sure Samuel played the good cop so well.

Boys:
<David laughs, whispers> I don’t think he could if he wanted to.
Girls:
<Taryn grins> Guess we’re switchin’ it up.
Boys:
<David smiles, looks at Bree> You guys always like that?
Girls:
<Bree shakes her head> Not always.
Boys:
<David nods> So, what’re you like when you’re not?
Boys:
<David looks at her> I mean, hell, even me and Taryn weren’t that bad.
Girls:
<Bree shrugs> Recently..or before?
Boys:
<David shrugs> Surprise me.
Girls:
<Bree lays her fork down and gathers her thoughts> Before.. we were close. Recently.. last night and today is probably the most we’ve spoken in …Months.
Boys:
<David looks at her> And when you did?
Girls:
<Bree shrugs> It was usually cool.
Girls:
<Bree looks at him> And I don’t mean cool like “hey, that’s cool”…I mean cool like the vibe.
Boys:
<David nods> Like you were just toleratin’ each other.
Girls:
<Bree nods>Yeah… Not that I blame him. I mean He did have Dee feedin’ him a bunch of shit.. and I did leave him.
Boys:
<David looks at her> But it’s different *now*.
Girls:
<Bree nods> It is.. and I’m tryin’.
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn, looks back at Bree> It might not all be you, though.
Girls:
<Bree nods> It doesn’t matter.. I’m the one that left. I’m the one that has to do the leg work.
Boys:
<Aiden laughs> “Trying”? <looks at Bree> Is that what you call “fine.”?
Girls:
<Bree looks at Aiden> I wasn’t gettin’ anywhere.
Boys:
<Aiden arches a brow> So.. what? “Fine” was your idea of “I give up”?
Girls:
<Bree shakes her head> No, Dare, I was giving his word back to him.
Boys:
<David looks between them> Hey. Shut up and listen for a minute. <looks at Bree> Me and Taryn were talkin’ last night and we were thinkin’ that what’s goin’ on with Samuel goes a little deeper than the assholes he’s surrounded by.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at David> Yeah? So, you think the problem is the *bitches* he’s surrounded by?
Boys:
<David looks at Aiden> No.
Girls:
<Ava looks at Aiden>
Girls:
<Taryn nods> Deeper in him.
Boys:
<David nods in agreement with Taryn>
Boys:
<Aiden looks at them curiously> What are you talkin’ about?
Boys:
<David looks at Aiden> Samuel told us how you guys met. And how you weren’t the same guy goin’ out as you were goin’ in.
Girls:
<Ava looks at Aiden, then at David> Neither of us were the same.
Boys:
<David looks at Ava> I’m not talkin’ about *you* and Aiden, babe.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> Yeah, all right. Confinement’ll do that to ya. You’re like… in survival mode even when you’re sleepin’ and it doesn’t go away as long as you’re in. And dependin’ on how *long* you’re in, it might not go away once you get out.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Aiden>
Girls:
<Ava blinks> Oh.. Sorry.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles at Ava>
Boys:
<David nods> And one of your girls said somethin’ about Samuel bein’ in survival mode when we saw him in Matoaka.
Boys:
<Aiden nods, thinking about it> Yeah. All right. I can see that.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Ava> That apartment *is* pretty damn clean for Samuel.
Girls:
<Ava nods> Yeah it is.
Boys:
<David nods> We noticed that about the house when we were there, too. The one that had bodies rottin’ in the attic. So, we figure he was cleanin’ every day to hide the smell.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Aiden, nods>
Girls:
<Saige flinches> Okay.. I gotta go.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> Makes sense. And probably brought it with him. <looks at them> The smell, I mean. <looks at Saige> What the hell’s wrong with you?
Girls:
<Saige shakes her head> Nothin’ … just have some things to do… I need a new …something for tonight.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Saige, frowns>
Girls:
<Saige stands> I’ll be back in a little while. <looks at Taryn> I’ll be at Splash Panic.
Boys:
<David looks at Saige>
Girls:
<Taryn nods> Okay..
Girls:
<Saige hurries out>
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn> Huh.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> Seriously.
Boys:
<Aiden watches Saige leave, to David> He’ll buy new clothes. Probably sooner, rather than later. And I mean he’ll get rid of *everything* he’s got and replace it all. <looks back at them>
Boys:
<Aiden lights a cigarette> And I’m not sayin’ he’s walkin’ around bein’ all OCD or anything, but it’ll probably seem like it. At least to a degree. I was already kinda OCD when I went in. Samuel’s never been like that.
Boys:
<David looks at Aiden> Will he replace his car, too?
Boys:
<Aiden arches a brow> The Impala? <thinks about it, nods> Yeah. Yeah, I can see where he might.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> Okay.. so let me hit you with this, What if something that happened there is eating at him.. Something he can’t tell anyone but needs to hear it’s okay.. <looks at David> Something heinous but for the right reasons?
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Taryn> Babe.. you say that like maybe there wasn’t. Did you see the same place I saw? I’m thinkin’ it’d be more appropriate to say “Many things did happen there that are eatin’ at him”. Nine months, babe. If there was just *one* heinous thing… I’d be fuckin’ surprised. Secondly… “right” isn’t so clear when you’re in survival mode. So, he probably had to do some bad shit for what people *not* in that place would consider “grey area” reasons.
Boys:
<Aiden takes a drag> Things that when you’re standin’ in the middle of it.. don’t look as heinous as they should.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at them> And that’s another thing. The longer you’re in a place like that.. the less heinous the heinous shit seems.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> Okay.. but what would be that bad for him?
Boys:
<Aiden shakes his head> I don’t know. I don’t know that there was any *one* thing that would qualify. <looks at her> Imagine livin’ every single day in a ‘hood where someone was gettin’ shot. Imagine the sound of gunfire puttin’ you to sleep at night. After a while… you can’t possibly be right anymore. Yanno? And as bad as the Falls sound to you guys, as much as it *seems* like we’re goin’ to sleep to the sound of gunfire.. we’re really not. We get shot at.. but it’s like a once a year, maybe every few months kinda thing. It’s not every single day.

Girls:
<Taryn nods> Okay.. <looks at David, then back at Aiden>
Boys:
<David nods, thinking about it>
Girls:
<Ava looks at Aiden> I didn’t realize that place was so bad.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at them> Look.. whatever he did… he’s probably not gonna talk about it. Not if it’s *that* bad. And if he does, he’ll probably hold back the worst. There’s a reason he’s not runnin’ home and he’s buyin’ a piece of land out here. And it’s not *just* because he’s got family here.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Ava> It was pretty rough. Kinda like a prision without any guards where the prisoners *don’t* wanna leave.
Girls:
<Ava nods> Fuck…
Boys:
<David nods> So.. it’s not crazy to think he feels dirty? Not quite human?
Boys:
<Aiden looks at David> Fuck no. It’s not crazy at all. Truth is.. I didn’t feel clean until Ava. And not until I realized she wasn’t as clean as I thought. I used to be hung up on the whole “clean” idea bad. And I mean *bad*.
Boys:
<Aiden shrugs> And I’m not talkin’ about my OCD shit. I mean, I didn’t feel clean as a person. Me myself. And I didn’t feel like certain kinds of people should be around me. Hell.. kids. I used to stay the hell away from kids not because they annoyed me.. and they do.. but because I didn’t want them to catch what I felt like I had.
Girls:
<Ava nods> He was bad about it.. My niece he wouldn’t get near.
Boys:
<Aiden nods to Ava, looks at them> Hell.. me and Ava got into a thing because she tried to get me to hold her once. And not a little thing. I all but lost my shit over it.
Girls:
<Ava nods> Oh my god.. he did.. And we were at her house and yellin’ at each other.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> And it wasn’t long after that we broke up the first time. And don’t think I didn’t think one had to do with the other. In that, I figured it was just one more thing added to the pile of reasons why we weren’t gonna make it.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at them> And the thing is.. you *know* you’re doin’ it. You *know* you’re pushin’ people away. And it’s either what you want or you hate yourself for doin’ it but can’t stop. And if it’s the second one.. you feel guilty as shit.
Girls:
<Ava looks at him> We broke up that time because I thought I wanted kids.. he was very adamant about *not* wantin’ ’em.
Boys:
<Aiden shrugs> So, you gotta redeem yourself twice. Once for what you already think about yourself and once for everyone you hurt along the way. <nods to Ava, looks at them> And the thing is.. *every* guy knows if his woman gets around a baby.. she’s gonna want one. But I didn’t even say “hey, we haven’t been together that long, let’s cross that bridge when we get to it”. I just went balls out fightin’ her on it.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at them> I panicked. That’s all there was to it.
Girls:
<Ava nods> He panicked and because he did.. I shut down. <smiles> I tended to do that early on. Or I’d push too hard.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Ava> But we finally got our shit straight.
Boys:
<David looks at them > So how do *we* deal with it?

Girls:
<Ava smiles> Yes we did.
Girls:
<Taryn quietly> How do we help *him* through.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at David> Be more stubborn than he is. Thing is.. he *thinks* he just wants to be left alone to do his own thing and not have to deal with anyone else, but deep down, that’s totally *not* what he wants. What he wants.. what he *needs*.. is to not be forgotten. Not to be one of those people that falls through the cracks. And that can happen way too easily with people like me and him. You’re not just fightin’ *for* him.. you’re gonna have to fight *him*. What he *needs* is just.. a normal life. Somethin’ to hold onto. He needs someone to show him they think he’s worth a fuck no matter how bad he believes he isn’t.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles> Okay.. I can do *that*.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at David> So can Saige.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> And I’m not even sure he’s gonna fight that hard. In all the years I’ve known him, the thought of owning a *legitimate* business has *never* crossed his mind. He’s never talked about buyin’ property. Nothin’.
Boys:
<David nods to Taryn>
Boys:
<Aiden looks at them> And from what I hear.. buyin’ a horse is more than just a business deal. It’s a relationship.
Girls:
<Taryn nods, Blinks> *That’s* why he got so pissed at Saige about Achilles.
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn> Because she treated him like property?
Girls:
<Taryn shakes her head> Because she’d all but forgotten him.
Boys:
<David smiles> Because he related to him. She all but forgot him and didn’t seem to care all that much. Because she was takin’ him for granted.
Girls:
<Taryn nods an smiles> Now she’s wrapped up in both of them.
Boys:
<David smiles> Yeah.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles> I’m sure it doesn’t hurt that he’s trusting her with stuff.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at them> Okay, people.. bigger picture here. *He* bought a horse. It’s a *relationship*. <looks at them pointedly> He’s not *completely* isolating himself. And he’s at least trustin’ *someone* even if it *is* a horse.
Boys:
<Aiden shrugs> Basically, I think he’s got a sense of what he needs and he’s tryin’ to get there.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Aiden and nods> So he’s not totally off the rails.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> No. And he’s better today than he was when I got here. <looks at her> But.. a horse still isn’t people. A horse isn’t gonna up and walk out one day because he’s.. whatever.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> So we just have to let him see we’re trustable too.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> Yeah. <looks at them> And that whatever he might’ve done or not done.. doesn’t fuckin’ matter.
Boys:
<David glances over at Bree, looks at Taryn> So.. we just don’t bring up Matoaka anymore. Because the less he hears about it, the farther away it is.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> And eventually, it’ll be far enough away that it’ll all seem like a bad dream. Hopefully.
Girls:
<Bree and Taryn nod, Taryn looks at David> I’ll let Saige know.
Girls:
<Ava smiles> He’ll get there.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at them> Here’s the thing though.. no matter how far away it seems… there *are* gonna be times it creeps up on him. Those’ll be his bad days. You can’t stop that. It’s just how that kinda shit works. He’ll probably never get it completely off his back.
Boys:
<Aiden smiles> And there is no way in hell he’s gonna go see a shrink about it.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at them> Oh.. and here’s somethin’ else.. if he ever *does* bring somethin’ about it up to you.. no matter what it is or how freaked out you are on the inside.. you play it off like it’s another fuckin’ day in the neighborhood.
Girls:
<Taryn smiles> Hell if he’s giving that shit to Saige to hold on to for him.. That’s as good as a shrink.
Girls:
<The girls nod>
Boys:
<Aiden nods> If she handles it right, yeah. The less it bothers you or seems to.. the more he’ll tell you and the less.. I don’t know… the smaller.. it’ll be to him.
Boys:
<Aiden smiles> It’s like seein’ shadows in the dark. They’re always way bigger when the lights are off then they are when the lights are on.
Girls:
<Ava nods> The smaller the impact the smaller the problem.
Boys:
<Aiden nods to Ava> Exactly.
Girls:
<Ava looks at Aiden> I learned that one from you actually.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Ava, smiles> Yeah?
Girls:
<Ava smiles> Uh huh.. when I broke the cup?
Boys:
<Aiden shakes his head> How did I teach you that with the cup? <looks at her> I’m not exactly laid back about that kinda shit.
Girls:
<Ava smiles> Because the more upset I got the more angry you got. <looks at him> Finally you said something about how you had more in storage and we’d just get one of those sets.
Boys:
<Aiden smiles, looks at David and Taryn> See what I mean? She and I had a *lot* of shit to figure out just so we could live in the same space. <shrugs> And I know a lot of it’s me.
Boys:
<Aiden smiles> I see *her* issues as.. sometimes just stupid shit she worried about too much.. but I see *my* isuses as bein’ these huge things. And she’s the same way with me.
Girls:
<Ava smiles> I had to thicken my skin and not be as sensitive. <nods> Totally.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> And I had to let her actually help me with shit and not try and deal with every fuckin’ thing on my own. Sometimes, I just have to walk out of the room and let her deal with whatever mess is sittin’ there. <smiles> Like I’m gonna be doin’ a lot of with the puppy.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Ava> But that’s a trust thing. I had to get to a place where I knew I could trust you to clean it up right.
Girls:
<Ava smiles> And there are some messes that happened that he never knew about because I dealt with them. <Ava nods> I know..
Boys:
<Aiden smiles, looks at David and Taryn> And I’ve got control issues too and *that’s* a trust thing. Before we put Ava in the cages, I didn’t trust her to do shit right or the way I needed it done.. or just be able to handle shit on her own.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Ava> And when I say “do shit right” I don’t mean shit like cookin’ dinner or somethin’ like that. I mean other shit I can’t really name.
Girls:
<Ava nods> And in the beginning I couldn’t. <looks at Aiden>Protect myself, because I didn’t really give the idea that I could. <looks at David> When we first met.. I didn’t even have a winter coat. <smiles> *Now* I get a new one every year.. but I still have the blue wool one that he bought me.
Boys:
<Aiden smiles, looks at Bree> Listen up, because this concerns you. With Ava the cages weren’t just about teachin’ her to protect herself. It was about her provin’ to me that I could trust her, that I could count on her. That she was capable. If I get shot in the alley again tomorrow, she’ll be able to go on and do what she needs to do. But more than that.. she’ll hunt down the motherfucker that did it and take care of it for me.
Girls:
<Bree looks at Aiden>
Boys:
<David smiles listening>
Girls:
<Ava nods> And I’d do it in a heartbeat.. <Quietly> in the most excruciating way possible.
Boys:
<Aiden nods to Ava, looks at Bree> And if she’s in the alley *with* me.. I know I’ve got a hella greater chance of walkin’ out of it. Silver told Samuel to put you in that cage to see if you really *are* different now. That means you got somethin’ to prove, babe.
Girls:
<Bree nods, quietly> I know I do.. and I intend to even if it kills me.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> And he’ll be there and he won’t be late. <looks at her> Because from where he’s sittin’, he knows what *we* think, but he’s gotta see it for himself. He’s stubborn like that. And he’s gonna be investin’ his time and energy. Don’t think he’s not puttin’ any of himself into this or that he’s not gonna be invested at all, because he is.
Girls:
<Bree nods> I know Aiden.. I saw what you did with Ava and then Eden..
Boys:
<Aiden nods> Then you know to expect at least what Ava got. Because the situation’s not all that different. <looks at her> For the record.. the big question of the day was which one of you, you or Dee, could he trust more. And *all* of us said it was you. Includin’ me.
Girls:
<Bree blinks> Why?
Girls:
<Bree softly> I mean I appreciate it,.. but after what I did..
Boys:
<Aiden shrugs> Because we know enough about you and Dee to know that sometimes she was just off the rails. <looks at her> You didn’t do it to *me*. I’m not the one that was in love with you. It’s easier for me to trust you. And I’ve seen what Dee does to the guys she’s in love with. I’d rather be loved by you than her any day of the week.
Girls:
<Bree looks at Aiden> One of the things he said to me last night was that it was better not to know the person you love is in love with you.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at her> The person you love or the person you love that loved you and left you anyway? Because there’s a *big* difference.
Girls:
<Bree looks at Aiden> I don’t remember his exact words.. I just know they stung…
Boys:
<David looks at Bree> I can tell you what that meant. When someone’s supposed to love you.. our mother.. and they leave you.. you can’t understand how they could do it to you. You can’t make sense of it and all you can think is they *couldn’t* do it if they *really* did love you and you go crazy tryin’ to figure it out. Tryin’ to figure out what you did wrong. It’s easier to think they don’t love you.. because it makes more sense. You can understand it. If they love you.. either they lied and didn’t.. or they stopped.. or they just couldn’t love you enough. And that’s too many options.. too many what if’s. What if’s that don’t exist if they just never loved you to begin with.
Girls:
<Bree nods> Okay.. I understand that.
Boys:
<David nods>
Girls:
<Ava looks at Bree, nods>
Girls:
<Bree looks at Aiden> I did love him.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Bree> Yeah, well.. that and a couple of bucks’ll get you a cup of coffee.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Ava>
Girls:
<Bree shakes her head>
Girls:
<Ava looks at Bree> Saying it isn’t enough. You have to show it.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Bree> I’m not sayin’ I don’t believe you. I’m just sayin’.. it doesn’t really matter anymore. <nods to Ava>
Girls:
<Bree nods, pushes her plate away>
Girls:
<Heather stops eating looks over at Bree> And if it does matter *show* him.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Heather, looks at Bree, smiles> Prove it.
Boys:
<Aiden looks back at Heather, smiles> Get frustrated or somethin’?
Girls:
<Heather smiles> Or somthin’.
Boys:
<Aiden nods, looks back at Bree> You know he’s got all the girl’s promos? Yours included? He held onto ’em to put ’em up in the apartment.
Girls:
<Bree shakes her head> I didn’t know that.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> Point is.. he can’t hate you *too* much or yours wouldn’t be in there.
Girls:
<Bree nods and smiles> If he hated me that much he would have pushed me off the rail last night.
Boys:
<Aiden smiles> Exactly. <looks at Ava> And apparently, I was still drivin’ around with *your* picture buried in my glove compartment.
Girls:
<Ava laughs> Forget it was there?
Boys:
<Aiden smiles, shrugs> Somethin’ like that.
Girls:
<Ava smiles> That’s okay.. Yours is still in my wallet.
Boys:
<Aiden laughs> Yeah, well.. yours is *back* in my wallet.
Girls:
<Ava grins> It better be.
Boys:
<Aiden smiles> When we get back to the apartment.. roll us a couple of joints while I take a shower.
Girls:
<Ava smiles> Okay.
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn, smiles>
Girls:
<Ava smiles> Give me the stuff and I’ll roll ’em now then we can conserve water.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at her> You’re sittin’ on it. Dig it out of my pocket.
Girls:
<Ava reaches behind him and pulls out the baggie with the papers in the bag, pulls the papers, opens the packet, takes one out, looks at Aiden> Pinner or fat one?
Boys:
<Aiden shrugs> Surprise me.
Girls:
<Ava smiles and reaches back into the baggie and pulls out the ring, blinks, and looks at Aiden, beams then squeals and throws her arms around him still holding the baggie>
Boys:
<Aiden laughs, tightens his grip around her, hugging her tightly>
Boys:
<David smiles watching>
Girls:
<Taryn looks over at David, blinking>
Girls:
<Heather smiles>
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn, smiles>
Girls:
<Bree watches smiling>
Girls:
<Ava buries her face in Aiden’s neck>
Boys:
<Aiden leans his head against hers, smiles, quietly> I was gonna fuck with you and tell you it was for my *other* girlfriend. But I’m a shitty liar.
Girls:
<Ava softly her throat tight with emotion> I’m glad you didn’t.. I might have been pissed off.
Boys:
<Aiden nods, quietly> So.. whaddya say? Stop somewhere on the way home, do the deed and spend a couple of days holed up somewhere before finishin’ the trip?
Girls:
<Ava nods> Yes… Yes!
Boys:
<Aiden smiles, closes his eyes, moving a hand to the back of her head, whispers> I love you *so* much, baby, sometimes I can’t even stand it.
Girls:
<Ava hugs him tighter> I love you too…more than anything.. <whispers> so much it hurts.
Boys:
<Aiden nods, quietly> Me, too.
Girls:
<Ava pulls back and looks at him her eyes locked on his, takes his hand and puts the ring in his palm, quietly> Put it on…please.
Boys:
<Aiden smiles, takes the ring> The green ones are for our fights and the other ones are for all the times we’ve made up. <takes her hand and slides the ring on her finger> Conrad says the fights are kinda the foundation of our relationship.
Girls:
<Ava smiles> He’s kind of right, when you think about it.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at her> Considering we argued ourselves into this relationship to begin with.. I have to agree.
Girls:
<Ava curls her fingers around his, laughs> Yeah we did.
Girls:
<Taryn tilts her head and looks over at David>
Boys:
<Aiden smiles>
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn, whispers> What?
Girls:
<Taryn smiles, whispers> I was just wondering how you argue yourself into a relationship.
Boys:
<David smiles, looks over at Aiden and Ava> How do you argue yourselves into a relationship?
Boys:
<Aiden laughs, looks at David and Taryn, smiles> Exactly like it sounds. We were arguing about something and she said something about pretending we were together and I said “what if I don’t wanna pretend” and it just kinda went from there. <looks at Ava, smiles>
Boys:
<Aiden grins> We been fightin’ about it ever since.
Girls:
<Ava laughs> Yeah that’s pretty much what happened. <smiles> He was so…smooth.
Boys:
<Aiden laughs again> I was anything *but* on that one. <smiles> It just kinda hit me when we were in the middle of it that *she* was the one I wanted. And that’s never changed.
Girls:
<Ava smiles> We were arguing very heatedly and he said that.. and keep in mind this is the guy that has a body count from hell…and I almost fell over.. I think I may have even continued yelling at him and then gone “wait…what?”
Boys:
<Aiden smiles, looks at David and Taryn> She was even part of that body count. But.. when I was at my lowest, she’s the one I went to. And she made me feel clean again. And I think she was the only one that ever could. <looks at Taryn> I knew she was special when I found myself knockin’ on her door, feelin’ raw as shit, and sayin’ to her that I needed her without my man card ever once bein’ a concern. She’s the only one I could ever do that with. That I could just completely forget all the manly pride bullshit with.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Ava> The only one I could really just be *me* with without all the posturing.
Girls:
<Ava smiles, softly> But you’re forgettin’ everything you did for me. <looks at Aiden> And I’m not just talkin’ about With Em and Liz. <looks at David and Taryn> He gave me my confidence back…even before putting me in the cages.
Boys:
<Aiden kisses her forehead> And as much as some of the shit we’ve been through has sucked ass.. I’d do it all over again.
Girls:
<Ava closes her eyes when he kisses her> Me too.. <smiles> Even you demolishing Sally.
Boys:
<Aiden smiles, looks at them> There were times, when shit between us was at its worst.. that I’d do shit not just because I was pissed, but to keep her in my life. To make sure she didn’t forget me. It was easier to have her in my life fightin’ with me all the time than it was to let her go. Hell.. it’s *so* hard to let her go that I’ve *never* been able to do it.
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn> I get that.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> Me too.
Girls:
<Ava looks at them, shrugs> I just kept trying to turn up where I knew he’d be.
Boys:
<Aiden laughs> And totally did, too. <smiles> Not that I was much better. <looks at Ava> Like showin’ up at the club I hated goin’ to. <looks at David and Taryn> But *I* was a dick about it. I’d show up with one of my girls draped all over me just to try and piss her off. See if she still gave a fuck or not.
Girls:
<Ava smiles> Oh I was *always* pissed.
Girls:
<Ava looks at him> Especially when you showed up with Nay.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Ava, smiles> Yeah, she was a *really* good one for that. Was it because me and her are so close?
Girls:
<Ava nods> Yeah. I always knew if we didn’t work out you’d end up with her.. I think another reason was because I was Hangin’ and I really was only hangin’ out with Viktor and *he* kept on about why was she with you…
Boys:
<Aiden arches a brow> What’d he say about it?
Girls:
<Ava shakes her head> Nothing about you but just how incredibly good she looked and why was she there with you? That kind of stuff…
Girls:
<Ava shakes her head again> And he wasn’t even rude…you know?
Boys:
<Aiden smiles> That musta sucked.
Girls:
<Ava smiles> Oh.. I briefly wondered if she wasn’t there with you to make *him* jealous.
Boys:
<Aiden laughs> She might have been, actually.
Girls:
<Ava Shakes her head> She was all about you that night. I mean dressed to kill and only had eyes for you.
Boys:
<Aiden smiles> Anyway…
Boys:
<Aiden looks at her> I love Nay.. but my heart and soul are all yours.
Girls:
<Ava looks into his eyes> It’s a good thing.. because I am totally yours.
Boys:
<Aiden smiles, starts to say something when Conrad, Silver and Samuel come back in>
