The Truth You Might Be Runnin’ From – Genja Comes Clean, Taryn Loses Her Shit, Aiden Confronts the Locals

Boys:
<Samuel watches her go back inside, shakes his head, looks at the others> I don’t expect we’ll be seein’ much of her for a while.
Girls:
<Ava smiles> You’ve got the horse thing and the ball park.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Ava> And he’s got a house she was wantin’ to plan with him. If *I* was him.. I wouldn’t let us anywhere near her after this.
Girls:
<Ava nods> She lives on the ranch with you.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> And as much as she doesn’t seem to be the kind of girl that’ll let her man tell her who her friends can be.. she’ll totally let him. <looks at Ava> And the first thing Taryn said about all of us stayin’ at the ranch was that Saige could go stay with Van. Wanna place bets on how fast he tries to move her in with him?
Girls:
<Ava looks at him> Let’s go find out.
Boys:
<Genja looks at Aiden and Ava> And this is where we get to see how invested *she* is.
Boys:
<Aiden nods to Ava> Let’s go.

Girls:
<Ava nods> And who she’s invested in.
Boys:
<Samuel shakes his head, heads back inside>
Girls:
<Kendra looks at Samuel> Have a little faith.
Boys:
<Samuel stops and looks at Kendra>Faith in what exactly, Kendra? I got plenty of faith that *this* was a fucked up thing to do and little faith that anyone had the right to do it.
Girls:
<Kendra looks at him> Babe..it’s too late for that. So let’s see what happens.
Boys:
<Samuel gives her a cool look> It might be too late for that, but it’s not too late for me to be pissed off about it. <heads into the bar, letting the door slam shut behind him>
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Ava> Guess we should’ve seen *that* comin’.
Girls:
<Ava nods> Probably…
Girls:
<Kendra shakes her head> I didn’t even find out about it until it was over.
Boys:
<Genja looks at them> If Van is the kind of man I think he is, we’re not going to see shit one way or the other. We’ll hear about it later. <looks at Kendra> He doesn’t know that. He knows that he’s usually in on these little scenarios and this time he was kept in the dark.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> Well, let’s see what we do see. <heads inside with Ava>
Boys:
<Genja takes Kendra’s hand and follows>
Girls:
<Saige walks in and sits down Next to Van>
Boys:
<inside Loch is at the bar smoothing shit over with the very emphatic Italian owner>
Boys:
<Van looks at Saige, quietly> Are you all right?
Boys:
<Rad, Silver, Seth and Lia are back at the table and have been caught up to speed on what happened>
Girls:
<Saige nods, takes a deep breath> Yes. I’m okay.
Boys:
< Van nods> I think it’s time to go.

Girls:
<Saige shakes her head> No.. I need to tell you what happened.
Boys:
<Samuel walks in and takes his seat, patently ignoring anyone who looks like they want to talk about what happened>
Boys:
<Van looks at her> I need you to do that too. Which is why I think it’s time to go.
Girls:
<Saige looks at him> I can tell you here.
Boys:
<Van gives her a long look> Fine.
Boys:
<Brennan and Ethan exchange a look>
Boys:
<Aiden, Genja and the girls come in and head back to the table>
Girls:
<Saige looks at him> And now you’re angry too.
Boys:
<Van shakes his head> Don’t do that. <looks at her> I don’t really know how I feel, Saige, because I don’t even know what happened.
Girls:
<Saige looks at him> And I’m going to tell you.
Girls:
<Saige quietly> I need you to hear me out.
Boys:
<Van nods> Right. And we *have* to do it right here and now. <looks at her> Let me explain something to you.. while you were outside, we got to watch Samuel and Genja hold each other at gun point. In light of that.. I’d think finishing the night somewhere a little less old west isn’t such an unreasonable request.
Girls:
<Saige looks at him> Fine. <stands> Let’s go.
Boys:
<Van shakes his head, looks at the others> We’ll talk to you later. <gets up, takes her hand and heads for the door>
Boys:
<Loch walks back over and sits back down> What’d I miss?
Boys:
<Brennan looks at Loch> Van wants to get Saige the hell out of the combat zone before they get into a lengthy “thing” and she’s being kind of a bitch about going.
Girls:
<Ava shakes her head>
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Samuel, quietly> What’s going on?
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Saige> Don’t know. Guess I’ll find out when everyone else does.
Girls:
<Taryn nods arching her brow>
Boys:
<David looks at Samuel> I think what she’s askin’ is why you came in here and scared the shit outta everyone with your gun.
Girls:
<Taryn nods>
Boys:
<Samuel shakes his head, looks over at it> Because the situation seemed to warrant it at the time.
Boys:
<Genja looks at Taryn> I scared Saige.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Genja> Why?
Boys:
<Genja lights a cigarette, sits back, looks at Taryn> Because certain parties felt she needed to realize she’s not as tough as she thinks and that there *are* certain men and or situations she could easily find herself involved with that she simply isn’t equipped to handle. To that end, I told her she was meeting me in a hotel room later or I’d put a bullet in her boyfriend’s head.
Girls:
<Taryn blinks, Sangria> Jesus Christ.
Boys:
<the boys blink collectively, Loch arches a brow> *Why* would you say that?
Boys:
<Genja looks at Loch> If you were listening, you’d know I already answered that question.

Girls:
<Sangria shakes her head, looks at Loch> Because certain parties thought she could find herself in a situation she’s not able to handle.
Boys:
<Genja looks at them> She walked up onto the porch of a man she didn’t know fuck all about while he had a shotgun aimed at her.. with *every* intention of blowing her head off, by the way.. *thinking* he was like every other man and she could just bat her lashes into what she wanted. She’s *already* found herself in a position she couldn’t handle. It was sheer luck on her part that she walked away from it unscathed.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Genja> And the fact that David was there which may have been part of why she felt she could do that.
Boys:
<Genja looks at Taryn> She’s fucking men she doesn’t *know* who carry guns for protection within a couple of hours of meeting them far away from her home or any of her friends.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Aiden>
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Taryn> David wasn’ t there *then*, babe.
Boys:
<Genja nods> Which is very much part of the point.
Boys:
<Loch looks at Taryn> She was going to go to a sex club in New York by herself and without tellin’ anyone where she was goin’.
Girls:
<Taryn nods> I get it.
Boys:
<Genja looks at Taryn> Consider it an intervention. Sometimes, it takes something extreme to open someone’s eyes.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> And I’m sorry, but you all just aren’t extreme *enough*.
Girls:
<Siobhan looks at Genja> What would you have done if she showed up?
Boys:
<Genja looks at Siobhan> First of all, I had no intention of fucking her. I had every intention of having Ava and Aiden there with me waiting for her.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Siobhan> We would’ve taken over at that point.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Siobhan> It doesn’t really matter. They got the response they were lookin’ for. They wanted her scared, she was scared.
Girls:
<Sangria looks at Genja> I understand why you did it but I don’t understand why you got involved in the first place. You don’t even really know her..
Boys:
<Aiden nods> And now that she finally realizes she’s not invincible.. we’re gonna make her a badass.
Boys:
<Genja looks at Sang> Because Aiden and Ava asked me to. And because she wouldn’t have been sufficiently afraid of Aiden or Samuel if they suddenly changed gears.
Girls:
<Sangria nods to Genja> All right. <looks at Aiden> I seriously doubt Van’s gonna let this happen.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Sang> I’ve gotten too friendly with her, so it wouldn’t have worked. <nods> Yeah. Samuel gave us the 411 on that. We’ll see what we see. We already talked to *her* about it and, boyfriend or not, it’s not really up to him unless she wants it to be.
Girls:
<Sangria looks at Ethan and Brennan>
Boys:
<Ethan looks at Sang> Oh.. he’s gonna be pissed. I don’t see it sitting well with him at all.
Boys:
<Brennan shakes his head> Especially if she’s confrontational about it like she was about them talking alone.
Girls:
<Sangria nods> But I don’t see her doing that once they’re alone.
Boys:
<Ethan nods> That’s a good thing, then. But why do it in front of all of us, then? That’s.. worse.
Boys:
<Brennan nods> And telling him all *that* would just force him into a position where he had to do something *now*.

Girls:
<Sangria shrugs> I think she just needed to get it out and I don’t think she thought it through.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at the others> Look.. we’re not in the habit of rollin’ up into other people’s towns and stickin’ out noses into their Kool Aid. But we been hearin’ this is an ongoin’ problem and you all haven’t been able to fix it. That’s all we’re tryin’ to do.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Sangria> That’s part of the problem, babe. She doesn’t think *anything* through. She was gonna tell Van what Genja said to her. How do you think that would’ve ended?
Girls:
<Sangria nods> I know.. but let me ask you this…Why not get the boyfriend involved?
Boys:
<David looks at Sang> Come on, Sang. You know how Van is. He wouldn’t have let it happen. He’s too busy tryin’ to protect her from everything and hold her hand through it.
Boys:
<Genja looks at Sang> Van’s too close to it. He’s walking a line between keeping her happy and keeping her *in* line.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> And this absolves him of responsibility. When she starts bitchin’ about it she can’t go back at him with some bullshit about how he could let it happen to her.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Sang> That girl’s so high maintenance, Sang, that he has to spend so much time playin’ daddy, he barely gets to play boyfriend.
Boys:
<Akhiro looks at Sang> It was extreme, but.. everything she does is extreme.
Girls:
<Sangria nods, looks at them> But did any one of you stop to think how this is going to affect Van?
Boys:
<Aiden smiles, shakes his head> No. <looks at Sang> First and foremost, Samuel wasn’t involved. The only people that were involved were me, Ava and Genja and Genja was only involved insofar as we asked him to do somethin’ and he did it, no questions asked.
Girls:
<Sangria looks at Samuel> So how do you feel about now that you know the reasons it was done?
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Sang> It doesn’t matter how *I* feel about it. She’s not *my* girlfriend.
Girls:
<Sangria nods> But they involved you in something <shrugs> You could have shot one of your best friends because of it.
Boys:
<Samuel nods> And he woulda deserved it. <looks at her> But they didn’t involve me in shit. I made her tell me what was goin’ on all on my own and I decided to deal with it. On my own.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Aiden> And they know how I feel about it.
Girls:
<Sangria nods> All right.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Sang> All right? No. it’s not all right. Any of them or us could have been hurt. <looks at Genja> I’m sorry but you come here and level threats, and suddenly we’re all supposed to go, “Oh he did it for them and they’re doing it for her.” Well *her* is my sister and Jesus Christ..yeah she’s been on a tear but for fucks sake who hasn’t ever been on one. <looks at Brennan> You used to run around gettin’ in trouble all the time.
Girls:
<looks at Loch> You got caught with your pants down.. yeah I know Saige was the reason for that one but *you* could have said no. <looks at Renee> You’ve been in bitch mode for a week now.. and <looks at Sang> And you’ve been emo as fuck. I know she’s a handful and whoring herself out like crazy.. but she’s still my sister…And I’m done listening to you guys talk about her like she’s some kind of alien.
Girls:
<Taryn blinks and drops her head> Fuck.
Boys:
<the boys look at Taryn, Brennan arches a brow> Okay, wait.. *I* haven’t said *fuck* all about her beyond that thing we had about her possibly turning into a stepford wife and all the ways I *don’t* wanna see that happen, so excuse the fuck out of me for sitting here.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Brennan, shakes her head> I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said anything at all.
Boys:
<Genja looks at her> I don’t give a shit what you do with it or if it’s all right with you or not.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Genja>
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Taryn> Your sister’s been on a bender a hell of a lot longer than everyone here’s been bein’ a hypocrite. You can’t handle her, Taryn. And when you can’t handle your own.. <looks at Sang> it affects *everyone* else and *they* end up handlin’ your own for you. <looks at Taryn> And I’m sorry, darlin’, but if you can’t handle it and someone else feels they have to do it for you, you don’t really get to bitch about how they do it. But suddenly, we’re gonna sit here and worry about how it might affect Van. How’s it gonna affect Van when she goes off the rails again because she’s bored or she gets up in the mornin’ and hates herself again? When the guilt gets really bad and she needs to bite it back?
Boys:
<Samuel shakes his head> Do I like it? No, I don’t. <looks at Taryn> In fact, it pissed me right the hell off. But the fact is, Ava is livin’ proof that our way works and your sister can be every bit the woman she plays at bein’ *now*.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at her> So, you tell *me*, darlin’, what’s the most important thing here because damned if I can find it.
Girls:
<Taryn quietly> Saige. Her well being.
Boys:
<Samuel nods> All right, then. <looks at her> That’s what we’re goin’ for. When Aiden’s done with her, she’ll be right again. And if she isn’t, you can shoot *me*. Hell, I’ll even give you the gun. But this isn’t about Van or anyone else *but* Saige. Consider it boot camp for the incorrigible. People are always sendin’ their kids there, but they don’t wanna hear about the methods the place is usin’.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at Samuel nods, looks at the others, quietly> I’m sorry.
Boys:
<the boys just kind of nod and go back to their drinks>
Boys:
<Rad looks at Silver, whispers> Wow.
Girls:
<Renee and Sang looks at Taryn, shake their heads and do a Bomb>
Boys:
<Brennan looks at Aubrey, whispers> At least you dodged the Taryn bullet.
Girls:
<Taryn looks at David> I’ll be back.
Girls:
<Aubrey nods> So did Siobhan.
Boys:
<David looks at Taryn> Where are you goin’?
Girls:
<Taryn quietly> Bathroom.
Boys:
<David nods> All right.
Girls:
<Taryn stands and heads toward the bathrooms and out the back door>
Boys:
<Rad waits for Taryn to leave, looks at Aiden and Ava> *That* was what I was talkin’ about.
Girls:
<Ava looks at Rad> Okay.. you were right about it.
Boys:
<Brennan looks at Aubrey> I’m gonna go home.
Girls:
<Aubrey nods> All right. I’ll be home when I’m done with my shift.
Boys:
<Brennan nods> I’ll see you when you get there. <kisses her, gets up and heads out>
Girls:
<Aubrey watches him go and shakes her head, mutters> Now *I* want to punch Taryn.
Boys:
<Loch shakes his head> I got caught with my pants down *once*. Sang being emo is nothin’ like Saige fuckin’ her way through town. <looks at the others> Hell.. *nothing* any of us has done has been like Saige fuckin’ her way through town and the difference is *we* stopped and why the *fuck* didn’t I come up with this argument while Taryn was sittin’ here?
Girls:
<Sangria looks at Loch> She’ll be back.. David’s here.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Loch and the others> Because *Taryn* wasn’t built to be starin’ down the business end of a .38. Because as tough as that little girl *is*, she’s still Taryn and you should *know* by goddamn now that she’s goddamn sensitive.
Boys:
<Loch looks at Samuel> *You’re* the one that was holdin’ the gun.
Boys:
<Samuel nods> Yes, I was. So, if you wanna bitch at someone for bein’ an asshole.. <looks at them> Here I am.

Girls:
<Ava looks at Loch> And *you’re* her friends. You’re the ones that are safe for her to vent at.. because of your friendship. She can’t vent at Samuel… He’s her boyfriend’s brother. She can’t vent at us because she doesn’t know us well enough.
Girls:
<Renee looks at Ava> And some of us didn’t say or do anything at all. Some of us are still trying to get our head’s around the fact that there were two people standing here with guns pointed at each other.
Boys:
<Ethan looks at Ava> Okay.. here’s the thing. Most of the shit most of us have said about Saige was us trying to figure out how to help her. Taryn seems to have forgotten about that. And venting isn’t the same as basically telling us all what assholes we are for kicking her sister when she’s down. *That* was guilt talking because *Taryn’s* her sister and ultimately, for a while there, she wasn’t really trying to help her at all because *she’d* basically given up on her.
Girls:
<Bree shakes her head> I don’t have any siblings. But I can’t imagine giving up on your family.
Boys:
<Akhiro nods> And then you all come along, go balls out, scare the shit out of Taryn *and* Saige, but.. lo and behold.. you might actually have something that works where we all failed. And I’m thinking the idea of people who are practically strangers being able to make headway where the rest of us couldn’t, especially Taryn, stings a bit.
Girls:
<Sangria nods> I know it would me.
Boys:
<Loch nods> Even David, before they got back together, when they were fighting, called Taryn out on why the hell she was just standin’ by watching Saige go to hell.
Girls:
<Ava looks at Aiden, smiles slowly>
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Ava> What?
Girls:
<Kendra looks at Ava> No. She couldn’t handle it.
Boys:
<Rad shakes his head> But the fact we’re strangers, could be exactly *why* we can make headway where you guys can’t. <looks at the others> Some of us are larger than life and she seems to not only be impressed by that but to wanna play in the big leagues.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> She wants to prove she can hang with us. We’re willin’ to not only let her prove it, but help her get there.
Boys:
<Genja looks at Kendra> What couldn’t she handle?
Girls:
<Ava quietly to Aiden> Maybe Taryn needs to see some of that. or be a part of it.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Ava, arches a brow, looks at Samuel>
Girls:
<Kendra looks at Genja> Taryn going through their training.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Aiden, looks at David> What do you think? That’s *your* woman. *I* think she can handle it. She’s tougher than people realize.
Boys:
<David looks at Samuel> What are we talkin’ about? How hardcore is it?
Boys:
<Samuel shakes his head> It’s not any worse than trainin’ for anything else. It’s just a different way of doin’ it.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at David> She won’t be cuttin’ thumbs off or anything.
Girls:
<Ava looks at David, smiles> He’s right.. I survived it and so did Eden.
Boys:
<Aiden nods> And Eden’s an 18 year old girl. <looks at the others> And Saige isn’t any weaker or less determined than Eden was. Hell, if anything, Eden was even more of a princess than Saige has ever been.
Boys:
<Aiden shrugs> Hell.. the whole lot of you could watch if you wanted if it’d make you feel better.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at David> It’s been mentioned Saige is like those horses on the ranch. Maybe it’s time Taryn got invested in *her* again.
Boys:
<David nods> All right. I’ll talk to her.
Girls:
<Ava looks at David, smiles>
Girls:
<Kendra looks at David> If she does it you aren’t going to be able to coddle her.
Boys:
<David looks at Kendra, smiles> Let me explain somethin’ to you. That little girl can kick *my* ass.
Boys:
<David shrugs> And I never coddled her before. I just don’t like it when she cries.
Girls:
<Kendra nods> I stand corrected.
Boys:
<Samuel smirks> Tell me about it. Saige pulled that cryin’ shit, too.
Girls:
<Taryn walks back in much calmer now>
Girls:
<Sangria looks at Samuel> *Saige?*
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Sang> Twice.
Boys:
<Loch looks at Sang> Damn. Maybe they *did* make headway.
Girls:
<Sangria shakes her head> They must have.
Girls:
<Taryn walks back over to the table, looks at everyone> I’m sorry I lashed out at you all.. it was uncalled for and disrespectful. It won’t happen again.
Boys:
<the boys look over at Taryn, Aiden looks at Taryn> I’ve got *one* thing I’m gonna say to you and you can say whatever the fuck you want back. I haven’t said shit about this and I’m not gonna say shit about this after, but here it is…. I’m sorry we blew into your town and pissed on your cornflakes and scared your sister and brought in our big guns in the process, but….. *we* wouldn’t be here right now if when *you* all decided to bring Samuel home with you, you’d been a little more fuckin’ hospitable.
Boys:
<Aiden looks at Sang> You’re all so worried about each other and how everything’s affecting your friends… well, we’re *his* friends. And we wouldn’t be here steppin’ all over your lives if he hadn’t needed us. And that’s all I’m sayin’ about that.
Boys:
<Aiden shakes his head> And the *only* reason I’m sayin’ it now is because I think it’s gone unsaid entirely too long.
Boys:
<Conrad nods> Ripples.
Girls:
<Taryn nods, sits down>
Girls:
<Sangria blinks>
Girls:
<Renee looks at Aiden> You’re right. We didn’t welcome him not the way we should have. <Renee looks at Samuel> I am sorry about that.
Boys:
<Samuel rolls his eyes over to Aiden> It could’ve gone unsaid a little bit longer.
Girls:
<Sangria and Siobhan nod, Sangria> We all are.
Boys:
<Samuel shakes his head> Don’t sweat it.
Boys:
<Aiden nods>
Boys:
<Conrad smiles> Well.. now that everything’s out on the table… what’s next?
