Love Can Endure – Paternity Revealed

Girls:
<Bree laughs> Yes..I want one.
Boys:
<Samuel smiles, nods> All right then. I was thinkin’ with thirty goddamn acres, we should get us a few, actually. Dogs, I mean. <looks at Jamie> Apparently, Harley’s been sneakin’ around with Seth and Lia’s dog. So.. if you’re in the market for a puppy..
Girls:
<Jamie smiles> Actually I was thinkin’ of gettin’ one for Tommy. I haven’t really talked to Bill about it yet.
Girls:
<Bree smiles> Then maybe I should get one from a different litter so there’s no incest happening.
Boys:
<Samuel nods to Bree> I want a black lab. Other than that, they can all be mutts for all I care. We can go to the pound tomorrow if you want.
Girls:
<Bree smiles> Okay.. a black lab.. I want a German Shepherd.
Boys:
<Samuel smiles> Whatever you want, baby. As long as they’re big.
Boys:
<Samuel takes a drag> Territorial might be good, too.
Girls:
<Bree smiles> Yes. We can have a wild pack of them.
Boys:
<Samuel laughs> Not too wild, though. <smiles> Just wild enough to eat Dee if she shows up on our land.
Girls:
<Bree laughs> Yes! Then we won’t have to hide the body.
Boys:
<Samuel laughs, nods> That’s my girl. <smiles> Guess we’re buildin’ a kennel, too.

Girls:
<Bree nods> Totally.. we could find a good hearding breed and breed them?
Boys:
<Samuel smiles> You wanna breed dogs, too?
Girls:
<Bree shrugs> I dunno. Maybe.
Boys:
<Samuel shrugs> I was just thinkin’ a kennel because a pack of dogs might be too much for the apartment over the barn. Of course, we’re gonna have some empty stalls for a bit until we get a foundation mare and a coupl of other horses.
Girls:
<Bree smiles> But if we *do* breed them.. that could be some extra money too.
Boys:
<Samuel nods> But it’d require a higher initial investment. Because we’d have to find some pure breds.
Girls:
<Bree nods> True. <smiles> So for now we’ll go rescue the pups at the pound.
Boys:
<Samuel smiles> All right, then.
Girls:
<Jamie grabs her plate and Bree’s empty plate and carries them to the sink, smiles> You guys do that very well.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Jamie, smiles> What’s that?
Girls:
<Jamie smiles> Talk through shit.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Bree> Guess maybe there’s some hope for us.
Girls:
<Bree grins> Possibly.
Boys:
<Samuel smiles, to Jamie> I’m puttin’ Bree o on the deed to the land.
Girls:
<Bree looks over at him and blinks> You are?
Boys:
<Samuel smiles again> I didn’t mention that?
Girls:
<Bree shakes her head speechless>
Boys:
<Samuel nods, looks at Jamie> I figure this way, we won’t end up arguin’ about rent and shit later.
Girls:
<Jamie smiles> Smart thinkin.
Boys:
<Samuel nods> And I know how she is about shit like that.
Girls:
<Bree looks at him> But I *am* helping with the mortgage.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Bree> I don’t have a mortgage, baby girl.
Girls:
<Bree shrugs> Then the other bills.
Boys:
<Samuel smiles, looks at Jamie> See what I mean?
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Bree> How about you worry about savin’ some money for that studio you wanna open because once we settle in, there’s gonna be more goin’ out than comin’ in for a while.
Boys:
<Samuel shrugs> It’s why I went into business with Silver. The money from the club’s gonna support the ranch. And at some point, Silver’s gonna buy me out.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Bree, smiles> Or.. we can do like Taryn and David and you can come in as a partner.
Girls:
<Bree nods> All right.. but the studio can wait. and David and taryn are married.
Girls:
<Bree looks at him> A partner?
Boys:
<Samuel nods> They weren’t when they did it. <looks at Bree> Business partner. In the ranch. You gotta ask Taryn the details, but she made David a business partner before they even talked about gettin’ married.
Girls:
<Bree looks at him, shakes her head> But.. nods…all right.. but you have to let me buy in.
Boys:
<Samuel nods> That’s what I’m talkin’ about.
Boys:
<Samuel walks over to the table and sits back down, looks at her> The way David and Taryn did it, he didn’t have to deal with cash upfront or banks or anything.
Boys:
<Samuel shrugs> And we’re not gonna be makin’ any money for another year, year and a half probably. At the earliest.
Girls:
<Bree nods, Jamie smiles> Taryn set it up so that he’s payin’ her back out of his share. I don’t know if they’re still doin’ that but that’s what they had goin’.
Boys:
<Samuel nods to Jamie> That’s what I’m thinkin’, too. <looks at Bree>
Girls:
<Bree looks at Samuel> All right. So let’s do this.. I’m gonna be workin’ the club, the money I make from my salary goes to the household account. Tips can go toward the ranch. <smiles> I can do that.
Boys:
<Samuel smiles> All right.
Girls:
<Bree smiles> Okay. <grins> I think we compromised.
Boys:
<Samuel smiles again, nods> We did somethin’.
Girls:
<Jamie smiles> Yes and you did it right.. <looks at them>
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Jamie, nods> I’m thinkin’ Taryn and David are contagious.
Girls:
<Jamie laughs> Probably.

Boys:
<Samuel looks back at Bree, smiles>
Girls:
<Bree laughs> I’m thinkin’.
Boys:
<Samuel nods> And I’m thinkin’ I get you on the deed and that’s all the proof Dee’s gonna need if she *does* show up here.
Girls:
<Bree nods> That and the fact that well you’re with *me*.
Boys:
<Samuel smiles> And that.
Girls:
<Bree smiles brighter> *Then* I can tell her to fuck off.
Boys:
<Samuel reaches over and takes her hand, looks at her>
Girls:
<Bree squeezes his hand, and holds his look>
Boys:
<Samuel smiles>
Girls:
<Jamie looks at them> So the camper is cleaned out. <looks at Samuel> I left the porn and weed in there.
Boys:
<Samuel laughs, smiles at Jamie> Well, we sure do appreciate *that*, darlin’.
Girls:
<Bree smiles> Totally.
Girls:
<Jamie smiles> And the fridge and pantry are fully stocked.
Boys:
<Samuel arches a brow> You didn’t have to do all that.
Girls:
<Jamie nods> I know I didn’t have to. I wanted to..consider it a gift.
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Bree>
Girls:
<Bree smiles at Jamie> Thank you. We very much appreciate it.
Boys:
<Samuel smiles, shakes his head, squeezes her hand back, nods to Jamie>
Girls:
<Jamie smiles at Bree> My pleasure. I also left the towels and linens You can do what you want to make it feel more like home. <smiles at Samuel> I did leave the rebel flag in the window.
Boys:
<Samuel smiles> I’m down with that.
Girls:
<Bree nods> I dig the flag.. thank you.
Boys:
<Samuel sits back in his chair> The barn’s gonna take a couple of weeks, but no more than a month. Let us know if you need it back before then and we’ll get it back.
Girls:
<Jamie smiles and nods> All right but I don’t think we will. <washes and puts the dishes away then comes back to the table> With Tommy in school we don’t camp nearly as much as we used to.
Boys:
<Samuel nods> I stopped campin’ a long time ago, too. Up north, we had a damn preserve with a campground right near us and we never even thought about goin’. But me and Bree were sittin’ by the lake today, on the property, and I started thinkin’ how cool it would be to have a camper down there. One thing led to another and here we are.
Girls:
<Jamie smiles> That’s great. The next time we go down there…you’ll have to give us a tour.
Boys:
<Samuel smiles> We’ll do that.
Girls:
<Bree nods>
Girls:
<Jamie smiles> Heard about your horse too.
Boys:
<Samuel nods> Ayup. We talked about it yesterday. <smiles> You gettin’ old?
Girls:
<Jamie looks at Samuel> Actually, I think I am, sugar.
Boys:
<Samuel smiles again, shakes his head> You were supposed to say some shit about me bein’ impertinent and point out all the excitement over David and Taryn gettin’ married.
Girls:
<Bree laughs, Jamie smiles> I think it was impertinent prick.
Boys:
<Samuel nods, smiles at Bree> That’s what they always told me, anyway.

Girls:
<Bree looks at Samuel, smiles> Impertinent prick? <shakes her head and laughs> That’s good. I might have to reserve that one for Genja.
Boys:
<Samuel laughs> Darlin’, you say that to him and he’ll tell you to *suck* his impertinent prick.
Girls:
<Bree laughs> Maybe..
Boys:
<Samuel smiles> I’d bet on it.
Girls:
<Bree smiles> I’ll just have to test that theory.
Boys:
<Samuel nods> All right, then. <kisses her cheek, stands> You go ahead and hang out with Jamie. I’ll go hook up the camper.
Girls:
<Bree smiles and nods> Okay. <Jamie looks at him> You all stayin for dinner?
Boys:
<Samuel looks at Jamie, looks back at Bree> That’s up to you, baby girl.
Girls:
<Bree smiles> We can, but shouldn’t we get back before dark to hook up the camper. <looks at Samuel> I mean.. the four of us can come up this weekend.
Boys:
<Samuel nods> Yeah, we probably should. <looks at Jamie> Mind if we take a raincheck, darlin’?
Girls:
<Jamie shakes her head> Not at all. <Bree smiles> Besides we don’t want to impose and put you out.. this was kind of spur of the moment.
Boys:
<Samuel smiles at Bree> I’ll be back in a few minutes. <heads outside>
Girls:
<Bree nods and watches him go while Jamie pulls out her cell phone> I’m going to make that call again. <Jamie dials Sarah>
Girls:
<Bree looks at Jamie> Okay.
Boys:
<Samuel pulls the truck around back and gets to hitching up the camper>
Girls:
<Jamie talks to the nurse and is put on hold when Sarah comes on she talks to Sarah and resorts to telling her she’s dying and she should do right by her kids>
Girls:
<Sarah and Jamie argue for a bit and Sarah finally relents and tells Jamie, then hangs up on her>
Girls:
<Jamie looks at Bree> Well that was… interesting.
Girls:
<Bree looks at her> She told you?
Girls:
<Jamie nods> She did. I’ll tell him when he comes back in.
Boys:
<a few minutes later, Samuel pulls the truck and camper around to the side of the house and comes back inside>
