I Am Heaven Sent – Breaking Through

Boys:
<meanwhile, Pope looks over when Seth and Siobhan walk over, smiles> I thought we’d run a little screen test.
Boys:
<Seth stops in front of him, places his hands on his hips> Screen test?
Girls:
<Siobhan leans on the saw horse, looks at Pope> Why?
Boys:
<Pope looks at Siobhan> Because I’ve seen you and Van together all day, but I haven’t seen you and Seth together.
Girls:
<Siobhan looks at Seth>
Boys:
<Seth looks at Siobhan> So much for being done talking about work.
Boys:
<Pope nods> I did say that. But that was before Bonnie and I were talking and I realized that since I have you two here.. <looks at Seth> And you’re such a bastard to get a hold of.. I should take advantage of it.
Girls:
<Siobhan nods> Seriously. <looks back at Pope> But a screen test? *really*.
Boys:
<Pope smiles> I just want to see how you guys work together. And.. I was thinking Seth will probably be more believable as snubbed guy at bar in Saige’s first scene, but.. I want to be sure before I just cast him in it.
Boys:
<Seth looks at Pope> Van’s believable when he’s in Dom role, why not snubbed guy in bar?
Boys:
<Pope looks at Seth pointedly> Because *you’re* more of a natural fit.
Boys:
<Seth shakes his head> All right, fine. Whatever.

Girls:
<Siobhan looks at Pope> Okay.. what do you want us to do?
Boys:
<Pope looks at Siobhan> You’re the woman in the bar, he’s the guy that you’re trying to get rid of. Improv it for me.
Girls:
<Siobhan nods> All right.
Boys:
<Pope smiles> Better yet.. let’s make it a club as opposed to a bar.
Boys:
<Pope looks at Seth, smiles> And you be the guy *so* sure of himself and refuses to take no for an answer.
Boys:
<Seth smiles, shakes his head> Yeah. That role really *isn’t* a stretch, is it?
Boys:
<Pope smiles again> No, it’s not.
Girls:
<Siobhan pushes up off the sawhorse and moves over to a radio and turns on the music, goes over and picks up one of the empty glasses from the coffee table and heads over to a wooden area on the floor and starts dancing> Whenever you’re ready.
Boys:
<Seth watches her for a second, actually imagining her in a real club, walks over to her, coming up behind her, puts a hand on one hip, takes her glass with the other, leans in> Here… let me get you another one, baby.
Boys:
<Pope texts Bonnie with one hand while he uses his camera to film them with the other, telling Bonnie the scenario he gave them>
Boys:
<as he sits on a piece of dungeon furniture>
Girls:
<Siobhan turns around, arches her brow at him, taking her glass back> Why? there’s nothing wrong with the one I have.
Boys:
<Seth smiles> You didn’t let me pay for it.
Boys:
<Seth looks her over appreciatively> And a woman who moves like that should definitely *not* have to pay for her own drinks.
Girls:
<Siobhan smiles and shakes her head> I don’t let men buy my drinks for me. But thank you anyway..<turns to walk away from him>
Boys:
<Seth grabs her hand and pulls her back> Hold on there, baby. We’re not done with this conversation.
Girls:
<Siobhan pulls her hand out of his> *I’m* done with it. <smiles prettily, leans in and stage whispers> Go find a pushover, “baby.” I don’t play games.
Girls:
<Siobhan pulls back, turns and starts to walk away again>
Boys:
<Seth arches a brow, smiles> Oh, no. <grabs her hand again and pulls her back, looks at her> We’re done with it when *I* say we’re done with it. If I wanted easy, I wouldn’t be talking to you.
Girls:
<Siobhan, shivers when he takes her hand again, shakes her head> I said I’m done here. <yanks her arm back and heads for the couch>
Boys:
<Seth rolls his eyes, follows her over, sits on the couch, grabbing her as he does and pulling her into his lap, looks at her> I’m not that easy to brush off.
Girls:
<Siobhan looks at him as she struggles to extricate herself from him> Does this actually work for you?
Boys:
<Seth smiles> Keep bouncing around like that, baby. It’s not exactly discouraging.
Girls:
<Siobhan goes utterly still> No well maybe this will cool your engines, <makes the motions of dumping the drink over his head>
Boys:
<Seth grabs a handful of her hair, pulling her head back while he pulls one arm away from her and pushes his hair back off his face, makes the motion of running his hand over his face and flinging the liquid at her, quietly> Now, see? If you’d let *me* buy you one, you wouldn’t have wasted *your* money.
Girls:
<Siobhan winces when he pulls her hair back> I don’t want your drink and I can’t think of a better way to spend mine.
Boys:
<Seth shakes his head> What’s your problem, baby? I’m just trying to talk to you. <looks at her> You think you’re too good for me?
Girls:
<Siobhan smiles> No I don’t think.. <raises her head a fraction of an inch> I *know* it. <her voice takes on an almost disdainful tone> I know guys like you.. trolling the bar, looking for some weak willed thing that’ll follow them home. *Maybe* they come home <shrugs> Maybe not.
Girls:
<Siobhan sneers> Or maybe for just a quick fuck or blow job in the back seat of the car in the parking lot.
Boys:
<Seth eases up on her hair, holds her look, smiles slowly> Does *that* usually work for *you*?
Girls:
<Siobhan pulls back and slaps him, pulling it at the last second and cupping her hand for maximum sound effect>
Boys:
<Seth blinks like he’s actually surprised, arches a brow> Oh… <tightens his grip in her hair again, quietly> You know, baby, I’m starting to get the idea you don’t like me.
Girls:
<Siobhan winces again and grabs his wrist> A little slow on the uptake?
Boys:
<Seth arches a brow again> Oh, so now, I’m stupid? Tell me something.. do you piss ice, too?
Girls:
<Siobhan blinks, and recovers quickly> No. You’re the one that doesn’t understand the word No.
Boys:
<Seth gives her a cool look> What are you afraid of, baby? That you might actually like it? That quick fuck in my car, I mean. <letting her hair go, and moving his arm back around her waist>
Girls:
<Siobhan plants both hands on his chest palms flat fingers splayed> I’m not afraid of anything. I don’t do car fucks and I don’t do pushy men.
Boys:
<Seth looks her in the eye> Now you’re just getting boring.
Girls:
<Siobhan holds his look> Yeah well, That’s me.. take it or leave it.
Boys:
<Seth smiles> I’m still holding on, aren’t I?
Boys:
<Seth shrugs> And for the record.. I *understand* “no” perfectly. I just don’t take it for an answer.

Girls:
<Siobhan searches his eyes, quietly> This time you have to.
Boys:
<Seth watches her, quietly> Men who take no for an answer don’t get what they want.
Girls:
<Siobhan shakes her head> No.. they don’t.
Boys:
<Seth, still watching her> And women who keep saying no, don’t get what *they* want, either.
Girls:
<Siobhan looks away from him> You don’t know what I want.
Boys:
<Seth nods> So, tell me.

Girls:
<Siobhan looks back at him and shakes her head, softly> No. I can’t.
Boys:
<Seth looks confused> Why?
Girls:
<Siobhan looks down, then back at him the blinders very obviously coming down> I just can’t.
Boys:
<Seth looks at her, quietly> Talk to me. *Please*.
Girls:
<Siobhan closes her eyes> Because what I want and what I can have don’t coexist in my world.
Boys:
<Seth shakes his head> What does that even mean?
Girls:
<Siobhan quietly> What I want is already taken.
Boys:
<Seth looks at her, quietly> Baby…. <closes his eyes and presses his forehead to hers>
Girls:
<Siobhan takes a deep shuddering breath>
Boys:
<Seth wraps his arms more tightly around her, moving his head to her shoulder>
Girls:
<Siobhan slips a hand to the back of his head into his hair, while the other moves around him>
Boys:
<Pope texts Bonnie the update>
Boys:
<Seth whispers> I’m so sorry, baby.
Girls:
<Siobhan softly> Don’t.. <closes her eyes again> Please.. I know this is my fault. And I have to live with the choice I made. <whispers> It still doesn’t change how I feel.
Boys:
<Seth shakes his head, quietly> I miss you *so* much.
Girls:
<Siobhan softly> I miss you too. <buries her face in his neck, still whispering> I thought I could turn them off.. but I can’t.
Boys:
<Seth nods> And I don’t want to.
Girls:
<Siobhan softly> I don’t either.
Boys:
<Seth moves a hand to the back of her head, quietly> Christ. Who’d have thought we’d find ourselves *here*.
Girls:
<Siobhan closes her eyes, very softly> It’s kind of fitting though. *Here.*
Boys:
<Seth shakes his head> How is it fitting, Siobhan?
Girls:
<Siobhan softly> *Here* the place is where we first started talking. *Really* talking.
Boys:
<Seth shakes his head, quietly> I meant.. me and you in *this* situation.
Girls:
<Siobhan softly> I know.. I was trying to find something good in this whole mess.
Boys:
<Seth pulls back and looks at her, moving his hands to her face, quietly> I *want* to be with you. *Here*. I *want* you and the puppies and the job. All of it.
Boys:
<Seth shakes his head> I thought it would be easier to walk away from you than my marriage, but it’s not.
Girls:
<Siobhan blinks> I want you here. I want all of that. I didn’t stop wanting it because you went back to Lia. <Softly> Anymore than Van could stop loving Lia or she could stop loving him. I made a mistake telling you to work it out.
Boys:
<Seth nods> And I made a mistake listening to you. At least on that one.
Boys:
<Seth looks at her, quietly> I’m trying, but without you, I feel like I’m dead inside.
Girls:
<Siobhan quietly> I know.. I feel the same way. And It was easier to push them back then feel them when you came in tonight. <looks at him, her hands move to his wrists> What are we going to do?
Boys:
<Seth shakes his head> We’ve only got two choices. Lay down and die or make it happen. <looks at her> I’ve never been real good at doing things the easy way.
Girls:
<Siobhan softly> Fight. <glances at Pope>
Boys:
<Seth shakes his head again> Hell, I don’t even want to stay at the house by myself. I just want to be here. <looks at her> Yeah. Fight.
Boys:
<Pope smiles, shrugs, turns off the camera> I know how you can start.
Girls:
<Siobhan looks over at Pope again>
Boys:
<Seth looks over at Pope, arches a brow, looks at Siobhan> What’s he got to do with this?
Girls:
<Siobhan tells him about what Pope said in the restaurant about fighting for love, in a few concise sentences> Only his version was a full ten minute speech. <smiles> but he’s right.

Boys:
<Seth shakes his head, moving his hands to her hips>
Boys:
<Pope smiles, walks over, looks at Siobhan> Tell him about the “no list”.
Boys:
<Pope shrugs> You know. The one *everyone* knows about *but* him.
Girls:
<Siobhan looks at Pope, then at Seth, and back at Pope> You think?
Boys:
<Pope nods> Definitely. I don’t think guilt or obligation will be such a big issue after that.
Boys:
<Seth looks between them> What’s he talking about?
Girls:
<Siobhan looks at Seth> Lia’s no list.
Boys:
<Pope shakes his head> Besides.. everyone *here* anyway, knows about it. He should too just on principle alone. She *is* his wife.
Boys:
<Seth arches a brow> What about it?
Girls:
<Siobhan softly> Apparently it’s not just for her husband. <shakes her head> Van told me some things.
Boys:
<Pope looks at Seth> There’s been a lot of speculation over Lia’s.. motivations.. for being with Van. Most of which aren’t very pretty. So..you tell us.. what’s it mean when she tells him, the day the two of you split up, that for him, there’s no “no list”?
Boys:
<Seth looks at Pope, blinks> It says she’s in love with him.. which I pretty much had figured out.. but it *also* says it’s not a new development.
Boys:
<Seth looks at Siobhan> That’s one she had to think about.
Boys:
<Pope smiles> So.. it’s not a heat of the moment thing or her just.. manipulating him?
Girls:
<Siobhan nods>
Girls:
<to Seth>
Boys:
<Seth shakes his head> Lia doesn’t have “heat of the moment” things. And she doesn’t use *sex* to manipulate. She uses guilt.
Boys:
<Seth shakes his head> And who the hell needs to manipulate *Van*?
Boys:
<Seth looks at Siobhan> He’s such a nice guy, all you have to do is *ask*.
Girls:
<Siobhan looks at Seth> Exactly. And she doesn’t seem to have the issues with him working she had with you doing it. Which says even more to me.
Boys:
<Seth nods> What does it say?
Boys:
<Pope smiles> She’s more secure with him.
Girls:
<Siobhan nods> It also says that her issue wasn’t you working in the business it was that you kept it from her.
Boys:
<Pope shakes his head> Look.. you’re *both* in love with other people and get what you need from other people. *Why* are you married again? No matter how hard you try, your marriage will *not* work under these conditions.
Boys:
<Seth nods, looks at Pope> I think we’re beyond needing to be convinced at this point.
Boys:
<Pope nods> The only question left, then, is does *she* think leaving *Van* was a mistake?
Boys:
<Seth shakes his head> I guess I’ll be asking her that. <looks at Siobhan> While I’m packing.
Girls:
<Siobhan shakes her head> We can find that answer out right now. And if Van still wants her.
Boys:
<Seth smiles> That was my second option.
Boys:
<Pope smiles> Are you sure you want to listen to the woman who told you to work things out with your wife?
Boys:
<Seth smiles at Siobhan> Yeah, well.. normally her judgment is *much* better than that.
Girls:
<Siobhan shrugs> Normally I’m not that selfless.
Boys:
<Seth nods> And you can go right back to not being selfless. Selfless doesn’t become you. <looks at her> If I wanted a martyr, I’d stay with my wife.
Girls:
<Siobhan smiles> Good I don’t like it.
Boys:
<Seth smiles> I like you much better when you’re taking what you want and fuck everyone who doesn’t like it.
Boys:
<Pope nods> You and me both. I’ll see you two upstairs. <heads upstairs>
Boys:
<Seth watches him leave, looks back at Siobhan>
Girls:
<Siobhan looks at him, smiles> God I missed you.
Boys:
<Seth smiles> I missed you, too, baby. <shakes his head> *So* much.
Girls:
<Siobhan searches his eyes> Let’s not do this again.
Boys:
<Seth looks at her> That was the hardest 24 hours of my *life*. I definitely don’t want to do that again.
Girls:
<Siobhan nods> Me either. <quietly> I have a confession.
Boys:
<Seth reaches up and brushes her hair from her face> Tell me.
Girls:
<Siobhan looks into his eyes> I wanted you to choose me.
Boys:
<Seth shakes his head> I did. You told me not to. <looks at her> But I’m doing it now no matter what you say.
Boys:
<Seth smiles> I guess I just decided to listen to you at the wrong time.
Girls:
<Siobhan nods> I know I told you not to. That was a huge mistake on my part.. and I’m sorry.
Boys:
<Seth shakes his head> We’re not *in* love with each other, Siobhan. We’re in love with that piece of paper. The one that’s kind of fucking meaningless now, all things considered. And if she’s in love with Van, *I* sure as hell don’t plan on standing in the way of that. <looks at her> And the next time my choices are you or something I want less and you tell me to choose the other thing, I’m not listening. I love Lia, but I’m *in* love with you and there’s a *world* of difference between the two. And before you say some shit about how I’m going to feel like I failed, I *already* feel that way. I failed months ago. We haven’t been able to make each other happy in two years. We can’t possibly do it *now* when we’re both miserable for other reasons.
Girls:
<Siobhan nods> I know.. <closes her eyes again> I know Seth. I do love Van. But You’re both right. The two of us won’t work. There’s a reason we only hook up for a night here and there.
Boys:
<Seth looks at her> You love him or you’re *in* love with him?
Girls:
<Siobhan softly> I love him. I’m *in* love with you.
Boys:
<Seth smiles> That’s all I needed to hear.
Girls:
<Siobhan smiles> I guess we’ve got some ‘splainin’ to do.
Boys:
<Seth nods> Looks like it.
Boys:
<Seth smiles> I need something from you first.
Girls:
<Siobhan looks at him> Anything.
Boys:
<Seth holds her look, quietly> Kiss me.
Girls:
<Siobhan leans in and kisses him like she never has before, letting everything she feels for him come through>
Boys:
<Seth kisses her back, his feelings mirroring hers>
